if you're heading to Mass, the commute could be a bit slow. If you're staying in NH you'll be smooth sailing

Yeah I'm commuting to Natick, looks like I'll be taking the 3, would absolutely love to stay in NH if I could find a job (hopefully eventually). We're trying to get out of California and we got an opportunity so I took the first decent job I could get.

It is the absolute best part about living here. The negatives have started to outweigh the positives for us though.

Fine business. Well good luck with your move. it'll certainly be a change of scenery. and even though you missed a good chunk of fall, winters are very nice up here as well.

First order of business is you'll have to take a drive up to the Notch

I was heavily into BMX and freestyle growing up, and CA was the place to be for that stuff as well.

@JBF, get your vehicles treated with Fluid Film, WoolWax, Amsoil HD Metal Protect, or similar before too long to keep the rust at bay.

To many moving north and bringing their rules and agendas, and then ask why is this like where I moved from?

Other than a higher property tax and a small dividend & interest tax, NH has a low tax burden. You'll have to pay Mass income tax for working in Mass.

CA and NY fuckers are fleeing their states like locusts and destroying the rest of the country.
Concur with these two. Don't bring that big city nanny state crap to NH. Too many people try to move to more "rural" states and don't try to assimilate into the culture and amenities that the town already has. Votes for higher taxes to invent city services and more rules just to make it like the shitty place they just left.

I work in Londonderry, great area. Welcome to NH! Normally I'd say you are in for one hell of a commute with the worst traffic in the area, but where you come from, what we have here probably is nothing in comparison. CA traffic is rough. If your job is a typical 9-5 then your traffic will be horrible, but that's about it.

It snows here, yes, 4wd is a bonus, but they absolutely plaster the roads with liquid salt before the storm, and both liquid and solid salt during and after the storm. Also, even people that live here don't know how to drive in the shit for the most part so your 2wd will be fine for the most part since everyone drives so damn slow when stuff falls from the sky.

That's good to know...Like I mentioned, if I do actually go with something like that I'm trying to do an extended test drive, use it for my commute, and all that. Either that or really beat on it during a normal test drive...

Yeah...Must be nice up north. RI never pre-treats the roads, and hardly gets out with the salt. My town is decent for plowing, I live in a somewhat busy road, but there are times when they'll just leave a few inches of snow because whatever.

Drivers are funny here @JBF . First snowfall they need to remember how to drive in the snow. So everyone's still going 70 down the highway and pinballing off left and right. Then the next storm comes and everyone remembers to slow down. Driving up to Manchester and back every day, in the snow, I was in my Jeep, it was AWD with winter tires, that thing was a tank. I'd sit in the right lane going whatever the flow of traffic was, usually 45 or so if the highway was clear. Constantly, camrys and civics just blasting down the passing lane on all seasons going 70. Usually the ones you see in the trees later.

If Mack's apples is still open (I assume they're still a thing, it's been a while since I lived in the area) I'd hit there ASAP once you get here. La Carreta is decent mexican food, good luck finding good mexican around here though once you've spent time in California. Your best chance will be near Boston or Providence. :( Agave out in Portsmouth is good too. The Gyro Spot in Manchester is a favorite place, every time I go through I need to stop there. Last time I went through I was running late so I didn't get to stop, very sad :( Caesario's pizza up there next to the gyro spot is the closest thing you'll get to decent NY style pizza in NH. Doesn't beat Brooklyn but I used to work in the mill yard, so it was a walkable lunch spot

You'll have most everything you'll need in/near Londonderry, walmart/home depot/etc. If you are a tattoo guy, Scorpion in Derry is a good place to go. My next piece I want to go to Mark there. I'm from Salem. There's a cool mall. Don't bother with it, unless you need something very specific there. They're doing a ton of work around the mall, used to be a race track, they ripped that up and they're building it out as the "Tuscan Village". The guy who owns the Tuscan Kitchen is spending a lot of money - they have a couple locations and now he's redoing the landscape of Salem, kind of cool actually. Tuscan is a decent restaurant, bread is awesome, butcher is great if they're still doing it. You can go in and talk to them and tell them what cut you want, they're really good. Otherwise, MicKinnon's is good too, they make good sausages and their butchers are really good too, I was able to get some (relatively) wild stuff there, rabbit, alligator, etc.

I forgot there's a mall in Manchester. I've been there a time or two, otherwise...meh. Again, if you really need to...sure....otherwise you can survive in Londonderry A-okay. There's a liquor store right off Exit 4, and you can get Beer and Wine etc in grocery stores in NH (I hate you for that).

If you hunt, let me know - I won't go into that here though :D

I'd post a funny picture but I'm not googling "meat sticks" on my work computer, on the work network.

    :spy:

Who's up for what this weekend? I get to work tomorrow afternoon, shift coverage, and then taking the weekend off. Clover is growing nicely, will probably stop watering after this weekend.

when I grow my Bruins playoff beard I get "wow you look like Trey" and I was never a Phish fan so I didn't know what to make of that statement until a friend showed me who he was and I said Oh...wow...yup...
