I think every cold weather state is like that. Alaska, Indiana, Rhode Island, and Mass were the same when I lived there.

That bothers me so much. So many people run terrible tires in the snow then have to crawl to stay on the road in bad weather. I've always had good severe snow rated A/Ts or dedicated snow tires so while I still slow down a little, I don't need to go 20 all the time like they are.

Maybe mow my lawn, maybe not. Need to put up my sister in laws tv mounts in her new house cause her husband is not handy in the least.

I also scheduled a play date for my wife with one of her friends. They both need to get out.

100000%. I'm good friends with her husband and we have been trying to get them out of our respective houses for the past few weeks. Finally i just booked them a reservation and we both told them to GTFO and go out.

Hey, at least he owns it. I know a guy second hand I think through my father in law, he says the only tool he keeps in his toolbox is his checkbook. Not being handy is fine, being not handy BUT thinking you are....that's not great.

Dropping, working up, and hauling off a pair of Birches and some smaller Maples/Oaks for one of my neighbors. Then replacing the water pump on the '69. Also pulling, winterizing, and tarping the boat, putting a few more garden beds to rest for the winter, and then hopefully relaxing some on Sunday (but I wouldn't count on it; there's always something that'll catch my attention).

    :anonymous:
I at least run a good set of tires, but if I don't have the plow on the truck I'm definitely "that guy" that still does 60-70 when it's snowing. I leave it in 2WD probably 95% of the time, too, because it doesn't let me get overconfident of my vehicle vs the road conditions like the people who lock it into 4x4 as they're leaving the driveway. :notsure:

Edit- Don't mind the Jazz; I have weird tastes and I know it.

I like to think I know my limits. I'm very comfortable with electrical, can get by with some simple plumbing fixes, and mostly fine with automotive. Carpentry I'm hopeless. My new garage side door's interior molding is a little funny looking--the old one was worse and it's a garage, so I don't care, but I doubt I'll attempt anything like that in the house itself. That and as much as my girlfriend's dad tells me I should do it, I'm probably not going to attempt to do anything with my chimney and will hire a mason for that. I think it'd look like a chimney from a haunted house if I did it.

I wasn't able to make it up to Sebago this year, kind of bummed, it's a cool area. In laws cottage had a tree fall on it during that hurricane (or tropical storm?) a couple months back and cause good amount of damage so they were fixing it up most of the summer.

We have half a wedding Saturday (doing fun stuff where the Covid police won’t catch them)

Going to paint the trim and doors in the basement, came pre primed and going up today. Last step is carpet which isn’t until the end of the month.

need to cut up dead fall. Had a few big ones break a section of my fence. Luckily I was cheap and did dear fence in the back where people can’t see :D:D

They just got their house a few months ago. He wanted to get a manual push mower (i.e. only of those ones with the spiral metal blades) cause he has never used a lawnmower before. I am happy to help, but damn man never even used a lawnmower before!

the CX-5 in that pic I posted is great on gas, is a actual Automatic trans not CVT!! (has sport mode , and holds gears!!!), but the Skyactive 2.0 engine is kinda lackluster... to merge on a highway you are on the floor with the gas pedal... only issue I ever had with it is it ate the accessory belt at one point... replaced fairly easy.. and I now have an exhaust leak (looking like a gasket blew out (easy replacement).. it does very well in the snow, and handles very much like my parents older subaru's.... TCS is not a PITA like most vehicles, and this one is a FWD biased design with a viscout center diff..
and they have, but it's a limiter on some trails that require a minimum of 32" and lockers, or 33" and lockers... plus that added ground clearance 3/4" is still 3/4" more than I have now. lol. in some ways I love the 265 theyre just wide enough, and provide that pizza cutter look, and added traction (ground pressure) on a smaller area for snow/ice/rocks, but they just dont lok as cool, and dont do as well on sand. we will see still weighing options for tire sizes/weights...

I have a family member with an AWD Mazda. They have a very intelligent AWD system. It will decide to go into AWD based on outside temp, windshield wiper use, if defrost is on, etc. I was impressed with how well it worked. It didn't wait for a wheel to slip.

Try 255/85-16s I have run them for years, true 33" tire and no need to do cab mount chop, even on a 2nd gen. I may have 255/85-16 KM3s for sale if you're interested.

    Edit: I saw you're running 17" wheels.... so 255/80-17

With electrical, if you F it up, the breaker trips when you turn it back on. With plumbing, if you F it up, the kitchen floods when you turn it back on.

I'm good with some levels of electrical and plumbing. I'm good with some levels of carpentry. Anything with the chimney is a no-go for me. Even chimney sweep, I have to get someone in for ours this year. Shouldn't be too bad but even still, I don't know enough to have confidence to not have a chimney fire.

    :frusty:

How big is the lawn? I got a self propelled gasser. I would consider the blade reel for my yard, given it's only 1/3 acre full lot, those things are quiet and easy to maintain, etc. I was tempted, I'll be honest. I can do small engine stuff, but....if I don't need to and it's just as much effort to cut with either, might as well get the cheaper and easier one :notsure:

I got a blade reel for down by the river, I’m sure your yard doesn’t have random thick weeds or shrubs, but damn. Everytime I hit anything thicker than my hair it just stops.

got one of the best rated on Amazon. I don’t remember that stuff stopping the one we have in Maine under the deck that my great grandfather left 70 years ago.

So I had one of those when I lived in Alaska for a postage stamp sized lot. They worked, but on the patches that got tons of sun and grew fast it was a royal pain in the ass.

I'm still using the cheapy lawnmower I bought at Lowes in 2013. It sat for 3 years, and still started first pull. I'll eventually upgrade when I move-maybe. This current rental place has too many rocks that I keep hitting.

I wouldn't have confidence in my yard being clean.... :rofl:it's mostly dead right now. Planted some clover in the back half of the front yard recently, hoping that will grow good through the next few weeks and then survive the winter, and not be a mud pit in the spring (again). But yeah, my yard is mostly grass/ground coverage, nothing thick like that.
