whats with the rough idle?

on the 4.0? my 3.4 4runner seemed to idle smoother.

 

I've noticed my RPMS will bounce a bit on really hot days, but nothing that has ever concerned me. My previous car I kind of destroyed the ECU and it would routinely bounce 2000 RPMS at lights, so maybe this is just such an improvement I don't really notice it.

 

rev the piss outta it and get some of that carbon build up out......it'll probably idle a bit better then. also...have you removed the secondary air filter yet??

 

that may be true man........but when i did it on my 06 I noticed a better idle....but that was all.

 

Yeah...Mine didn't make any changes that I noticed either. I figure I reduced the weigh so it must be good (kidding)

 

my 4.0 seems to idle pretty damn smooth to me.... maybe its because i never let any carbon build up from constant babying and crappy gas.

 

Mine is definitely smoother without the charcoal filter. There's just no question about that.

 

Meh I think it's pretty decent for a truck.

 

1700 miles, all stock. 2nd filter still in. idles similar to my corvette. my camry i didnt know if it was running most of the time and my 4 runner was smooth too. just find it odd that it runs so rough when most are smooth.

 

Mine is smooth, quiet and all that good happy hs.

 

I agree with Roy about the rough idle. Not terrible but more noticeable than I expected from a new Toyota.

Mine is an '09 DC LB Sport with about 700 miles.... any chance this will get better with more of a break in?

 

it should. give it a few tanks of gas and see what happens.

 

6,000 miles and I know what you mean. Not enough to complain about but the 06 4Runner didn't seem to idle like the tacoma.

 

My '09 AC SR5, 4 cyl. idled perfectly until I drove it 3,100 miles on a trip. Now it has a rough idle. Don't think I built up any carbon averaging 80-85 MPH the entire way.
