Can't remove ignition cylinder, tried pushing something in the hole near the front of the truck and that did absolutely nothing

Thanks for that answer but it doesn't work, maybe that's for a non-transponder type key cylinder.

1.Turn the Key to Acc Position

    2. Press the pin on the front side of the lock housing (towards the front of the truck) and pull on the lock, it only comes out about 1/4" and then it stops.

    3. Now look at the bottom of the lock housing. There is a 3/16"hole. Poke a 1/8" rod into that hole and push the bottom of the rod towards the front of the truck. When you get it, the locking steering mechanism will go THUNK! After you hear this, you can pull the lock cylinder out.

Maybe this helps clear it up a bit.
    I hope @Muddinfun doesn’t mind

It definitely works on the transponder key lock. You did remove the transponder ring, right?

Thanks, I appreciate all the quick answers, but there is no pin on the front of the cylinder. The locksmith told me not to bother with it anyway the new key works good

Here’s the 1st pin you push. Ignore the ground away part. I’m guessing you didn’t look hard enough.

    I’m with the Locksmith.
“Leave it alone” if the key is working.

Why are you wanting to take the cylinder out?

I've got an 06 and the wafers in my cylinder poopied the bed, in a parking lot, late Saturday afternoon, on the first day of a week's vacation a couple years back.

I would take it out and drop it off at a locksmith to be rebuilt. It was under $50 to rebuild mine.

It was weird using a screwdriver to start it that week. Lol

I thought the ignition cylinder was bad but it was only the key that was worn out
