Hello everyone! I’ve been on TW for info on Tacoma’s before but I just got a 2015 trd off road. Pretty stoked about it! I’d like to start with some basic off road mods for trails as well as an aftermarket sound system but I really just don’t know where to start! So many options and price ranges. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    First, I'd get a map.
Then I'd work on stuff that gets me back to Dodge--straps, snatches, winches, basic rescue gear
Third, I'd try some off-roading, if you haven't before, to see what you like to do and what you can do.
    Fourth, create a budget.
    Fifth, start the mods.

Think of the places you want to go, build the truck to do just that. Rocks, long travel, beach, fat tires, low air pressure, mountains, supercharger, ect, ect.

Get some good AT (all terrain) tires and go from there. Stock truck with good tires will get you most places.

Edit - congrats on the truck!

Agreeing with @WrecklessAbandon . Just get some decent tires and go use the truck. It'll do more than you'd expect for a stock truck. You'll find out what you need to improve over time, based on your personal experience.

Thank you guys for the welcome and the tips! Basic rescue gears seems like a first, is a skid plate super needed for any off roading?

Depending on how difficult the terrain, you might damage or tear off the running boards.

I would personally wheel it the way it is and then find out what you need and go from there. My truck has been through so many changes throughout the year. I am about to go crazy on it. I am going for a SAS swap for the front with a 3 bar link front, and doing a 4 bar link rear.

I’ve taken my truck all over the Sierras, desert, and coast ranges (and nasty nasty farm roads)with no lift and Michelin defenders.

With the exception of dedicated OHV trails, I haven’t found anything that I couldn’t get through with A little judicious use of the gas pedal.

Back east or Midwest it might be different, but out west... naw.

If you want to spend some time off the pavement - buy some weather tech floor liners.
