I would think a minimum of fixing the huge flat spot on the upper left hand side is the major factor. But I can't imagine why the first gear values differ SO MUCH from the rest...
    :annoyed:

I sure hope Saturday gets recorded and posted because I'll be on a youth deer hunt with my boy, but I feel like I'd understand things like this crazy ass first gear map much better after a webinar.

but is it just for gear 1 is the question. It say optimal torque for shifting 1 but there are 17 of them so I question that it's for a single gear or are there 17 different models the ECU can pick from to use and each map controls all gears?

Mat suggested upping this map in particular. Not how, that's up to us vigilantes!

map 1 has lower throttle angle percentages and lower speed inputs so I'd assume it was for gear 1 and is a more refined map for low speed driving like gear 1 but then why are there 17 maps instead of just 6 and 1 reverse? Map 13 also has lower speed and angle inputs. I wonder if copy paste from there would be smarter? Map 13 actually looks good if I had a clue of what I was looking for in a map

    Agreed on all aspects.

That was closer to my initial thoughts but after looking at map 13 I'm wondering if that's going the wrong way and dropping the low angle, low speed torque requirement is better? I'm way out of my paygrade on this stuff though. I grew up on changing jets on carburetors and points ignitions with a manual trans so this is all foreign language now for me

A little embarrassed to mention this but after more time behind the wheel with this one I've found that the S2 map doesn't actually control all 3 mmodes as I thought I tested... Only D and ECT.

The good news... There is an individual map out there that controls part lock when you are using S mode! Gonna test more over the next few days and find out which map it ACTUALLY is...

    @OVTune
Will raising these values make it shift harder / more aggressively?

Any thought to smoothing it out like the throttle? Same across the board with a nice incline?

Been there done that. It made zero difference. I've made some aggressive changes to that table.

It would make sense that D and S converter settings could be controlled by the same table, as they use the same shift settings (stock anyway).

However, it does not seem logical that ECT would share the same slip lock table with D or S, as they use different shift tables. (Not that the factory tune is always logical.)

So, just to keep all your work on this together...
    ...#x Gear 2 tables are full lock/unlock used in D & S
...#x Gear 3 tables are full lock/unlock used in ECT
    ...#x Gear S2 tables are slip lock/unlock used in D & ECT (or D & S ??)
...#x Gear X# tables are slip lock/unlock used in S (or ECT ??)

Really appreciate you working this out. I was trying to wait for the final tunes before starting with vF; so, I'm just on my second day of testing. I don't have anything to contribute yet.

To some extent, it must be jacked up for a reason... I would still think moderate smoothing is in line though. Mostly increasing values in the huge flat void is my guesstimate as of now. I'm not certain if this will modify how hard the vehicle will shift now though. I'm apprehensive, until I know more about it.

Yea it sounds as strange to me as it does to you but thats what I've found so far. And based on a bunch of testing last night and so far this morning is that S3 controls the slip lock in S mode.. Hopefully come the 17th we can get more insight on what maps control what modes! In the meantime I'm making a matrix that should help keep track of it all.

Yeah i was thinking that too. I did some google work and other cars or trucks with ecu tuning seam to be smoothed with no dip up top. Not sure how different the taco is though.
