I just installed my oil catch can. 8ft of 3/8” pcv hose, and a $20 catch can (these do work I use one on my race car). https://www.ebay.com/itm/113953459008

I used an existing m6 bolt hole behind the air box and a bracket that was removed during SC install. Took 30 min
Note I used thumb screws from my Opel GT to allow easy removal and extra quality;)

Interesting. Been thinking about where to mount my catch can. Was only looking at the driver side because I wanted to keep the hose short. However, that passenger side looks super convenient. Especially when I need to empty it. Looks like I’ll just follow your lead on all the mods....:D Thanks!

Haha I was looking there first too, but I couldn’t find a good place where I could unscrew the canister easily.

Yeah, I had a couple spots in mind on the driver side, but canister removal was going to be a nightmare. I can just see myself unscrewing it and accidentally dropping the full can into the engine bay. Lol.

What's the reasoning behind the catch can? Do the port injectors not clean the valves enough in our Tacomas? Did the supercharger make this worse somehow?

superchargers increase crankcase pressure which means more blowby which means more oil getting into the intake and more octane drop because of that. I think the valves are fine with Toyota’s cleaning cycle stuff, but it doesn’t hurt to keep that oil out of the air fuel mixture and off of the CAC

@OpelGT how did you get your TRD air box to fit?

Nothing special it just fits. It’s tight at first but the rubber relaxes over time.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
I had originally mounted mine in the same exact spot but decided to remove it. Being so far, my fear was vapors condensing in the line then flowing backwards or solidifying in the line over time. I've seen the frothy milky sludge that gets made and it ain't pretty. I was going to fab a bracket to install closer to the pcv system.

It shouldn’t be a problem there is plenty of pressure in the line to move it forward. Also the most effective form of catch can automatically drains back into the crankcase. A lot of auto manufacturers and race teams do that now. There is condensation in the lines that makes that milky frothy oil, but that is also happening constantly in the crankcase too. Even with the long lines the water turns to vapor and gets sent back to the intake.
Further more it’s ok for the crap in the lines to go back down. Here’s a quote from the Arrington Performance CCV Bible
"When mounting catch cans, you should follow the instructions that come with whatever can(s) you purchase. In general, it’s better to have them mounted relatively high in the engine compartment so that air exiting the engine does not flow down into the catch can. The reason is that if the catch can is mounted lower than the air outlet on the engine, any large oil droplets that get through the PCV valve will tend to drain down into the catch can rather than back into the engine. In most cases this isn’t a big deal, but it can be significant under certain engine and driving conditions."

300 mile road trip yesterday at 75-80 mph and averaged 15 mpg which is better than I usually do!

I almost feel that 4.88 gears aren't needed anymore for highway cruising either. I stayed in 6th almost the whole trip with occasional drops to 5th. Before the SC I'd usually be in 4th most of this drive screaming away.

I'm planning on pulling the oriface out of the bypass for the drive back to see what that's like

Boost gauge done. More of a PITA than the supercharger lol.

I tapped into the green wire on the cargo light and added a variable resistor to match the brightness to the rest of my gauges (minimum all the time).
The autometer boost gauge is huge and I don’t reccomend it with the cravenspeed flexpod but I made it fit.

My steering wheel plastic was unusually close to the column so I also had to remove the wheel and sand down the rear until the texturing was gone so it would not rub on the flexpod brackets. Quick 10min job.

Considering you have to ask if an electric rad fan will cool a clutch, I would keep quiet about pretty much anything mechanically or tuning related. You obviously lack knowledge from anywhere

Edit: Oh another thing that's pretty ironic while on the subject. Mat at OV started with boosted Mazdas. Tried to boost his 2.5 Not even sure if he is still a part of OV or what he does, but that's where he started too.

    Moderators,
Is there any chance you could move my thread to the performance & Tuning forums.
I think the thread has gained enough valuable tech info and tips to be more useful there.
    Thanks!

Yea I didn't just try, I succeeded, on stock ECU, made one of the highest HP 2.5L MZRs out there, ran it on 40psi.
Wrote custom code for that Mitsubishi MCU that made it possible.
Got bored, got tired of the TOXIC community, and moved on.

Back to magnuson stuff please. This thread has nothing to do with me other than we provide the software to magnuson.
If you want to talk trash just come to my thread.

I don't understand why the hell people keep bashing OV, this guy has hands down paved the way for major upgrades for Toyota and Lexus Vehicles!! He hands down made it possible for the Tacoma ECU to even be flashed! The mag blower even comes with His tuner!
I'm sure the haters, naysayers and know it all's can find another place to bitch, whine, insinuate, insult and waist someone else's time.:annoyed:
