No offense taken. You merely put into words what I've observed in the past. Cheers.

Got one it’s made life with skid plates a pleasure for oil changes and cleanliness. It doesn’t stick below the skid if the truck was stock I’d still rock it.

I understand that, yes. The Fumoto came with a new gasket but what I was speaking of was it is recommended with every oil change to not reuse your gasket and to purchase a new one. Most of us can determine whether a gasket is suitable for reuse based on its condition but leaky gaskets can lead to a full oil change earlier than expected. So based on best practices of changing your gasket with each oil change, it adds up eventually. But yes, a good drain bolt & gasket is better than any valve because of less moving parts and less prone to failure.

I usually start thinking about installing a fumoto everytime I have to change hot oil and end up dropping the plug into my oil catch pan. Fishing around in hot oil with my nitrile gloved hand Makes me reconsider the choices I’ve made in life.

I get over it quick the next time I’m on some of the USFS secondary system roads in the Sierras.

Check their website. You can sort by vehicle.

Thanks, did that already. There are at least 4 part numbers, not clear which one to choose. Unable to find a Canadian source, as well.

It kind of depends on your set up and how you want to mount it. Seems relatively straightforward although admittedly over complicated for a simple valve. I'm not familiar with 3rd gen stuff. Are there any links or search results in thee 3rd gen forum?

I recently went with the stainless version of this: https://www.valvomax.com/

No experience other than the initial install though. Purchased off of Amazon

It's really simple, and not at the same time. I am wondering if the models with the angled neck work better with the factory skid plate, for example. I don't have a skid plate but I might install one someday.

I also want one where you screw in the hose and have control over when the flow starts.

The Valvomax part looks amazing, sadly no Canadian source I could find. It does not seem to be sold on Amazon in the USA anymore either.

According to the nospill site, looks like all Toyota’s use the same plug. The p/n’s I used are in the above quote. I did use the straight drainer rather than angled - works perfect with factory skid plate. It’s a nice product, you won’t be disappointed.,

Heads up, a guy on TW had received a plug with the torque value misprinted on the label. 12 ft. lbs. is the correct value.

I think I saw someone mention this somewhere but, that valve sticks up through the pan nearly a 1/4 inch which means you have that much dirty oil still in the pan after draining the valve, as compared to the plug which allows you to get every last drop out. And I want all that guck out

Well the design of the pan doesn't allow you to get it all out either. Look at the image below and you will see it also has about a quarter inch lip inside the threaded insert for the drain plug. And add to that the oil in the dimple for the pickup strainer...
