    You'll be topping out over every little thing. I would get some cheap longer shocks to throw in there in the interim.

    I went with 700 and am glad I did. Gives you so much more freedom down the line for additional weight, and the road manners don't seem to be out of line. Mine rides smoothly with a new leaf pack in the back. For what it's worth, I have about 400 lbs on the rear, and 120 up front on the cab rack.

    I have 700 with no weight, by mistake. It is not stiff. My only issue is the angle of the joints, too much angle. I need the 600 lb for my light weight bull bar so there is less preload all, reduced angle and joints/bushings don't wear out fast. Send me your 600!

    A couple
    I’ve got a heavy front bumper (close to 200lbs I think. Just installed icon coilovers with 700lb coils. Rides great.

    You shouldn't need to preload those. Pretty sure that the perch needs to be on the bottom ring of the shock body.

    Most of us chiming in drive second gen Tacomas. Don’t the third gen trucks come with a OEM 700+ lb spring rate? If so, my vote is 700 with added weight.

    that being said, I have a 2015 with an ARB bar and sliders and I still think I’m over sprung with 700lb springs.

    With the lower spring rate, yes you may need to preload to achieve the lift height you want.
    With 650, 700, or the one 887, 886, etc... bilstein typically recommends no preload(bottom clip), because the spring rate is stiffer and ride height will be achieved with correct rate and length.
    Maybe a longer spring is in order.

    The 3rd gens are a tad heavier in front but still only came with 600lb springs and they are really soft.the truck loves to bounce on bumps and nose dive when braking. A lot of guys run the 700lb to prevent that.
    I have 650 on my icons, no weight up front and they are a tad soft still.

    I’ve seen that too from toytec. Even though logically I should believe them, I still have a hard time accepting that. It just seems ridiculous.

    just another opinion here.

    i am all about the shock performance. my Kings are amazing at what they do, so i have reinforced everything around them so they can do it cleanly. if i was oversprung, that is effectively covering up their ability to move & dampen well. i got strong shocks so i give them as much as possible to work with. but i also toss my truck around wildly at speed, not your typical Tacoma driver from what I've seen. i run 550lb 14" springs. (no front bumper, 100lb sliders, AGM battery, and my shocks are much heavier than stock).

    but this is just as valid an approach to the question... different strokes.

    Anytime you make a fairly big change in spring rate, the shocks compression and rebound damping need to be re-valved, or adjusted if clickers to compensate for the springs difference to get optimum performance.

    I'm running the King 2.5's with compression adjusters and 700 lb coils.

    The did put me up right about 2" in front at a very minimal collar setting (see below) with the 700's.

    I've got a C4 LoPro, Warn M8000 with synthetic, and 20" BD S8 light bar up front. An add of about 140lbs. In town I leave my adjusters at 6 clicks on the front. Off road I'll bump to 9 or 12 clicks (depending on how fast I plan on driving) while I'm doing my air down when I hit the dirt.

    And adding on sliders or steel skids? No way I'd personally consider less that the 700's.

    Hell, I run 700's in my Gen1 with an ARB and winch. That was a little firm. Now that I've pulled the winch, definitely too firm for that application.

    I can assure you the truck rides butter smooth on and off road. The only semi-harsh thing about the ride on this truck is brought about by the E rated Cooper ST Maxx's.

    Thanks for the shot the collar adjustment/preload, that’s a good comparison to where my setup is at with the 600lbs coils. Being that we have similar added weight, could you post a side shot of your truck?
