Do your trucks have that stupid nanny state iPod lockout feature that won’t let you manually select a song while the vehicle is going more than 5 MPH?

I would never buy a new Camry or Corolla for this very reason!

Manual transmissions only available on TRD Sport and TRD PRO for 2021?!?! I thought manual transmission Tacos were more desirable and thus had higher resale values than automatic ones...?

I believe the off road has it also ... manuals are disappearing unfortunately. Everything now a days is auto . It’s not a new thing . Eventually there will be no manuals in the us . Not many people in the US know how to drive one or willing to learn .

At least in California. With the amount of traffic there is now, I can't see shifting every second at stop and go any fun. :(

Funny at my new job I went to grab a car to work on and the lead tech asked me if I knew how to drive a manual lol . Just goes to show you there is not a lot of manuals out there .

more desirable only by the minority who desires them. lower resale in the general marketplace. ATs are easy to sell appliances. not so with MTs unless you find the right buyer, and they are the minority of buyers.

Surprised it’s not standard in the base SR 4 cyl. Wonder if the ATs squeeze a tad better fuel economy and this is a fuel standard issue as much as is low demand.

in any case, just wait until these are all electrics with shift free transmissions.

Manuals are popular on TW, but that's a VERY small fraction of the people that buy Tacomas. The number of people that can drive a manual seems to be on a pretty steady decline. Last year our dealer had two TRD pros on the lot at the same time that sat there for well over a month. Usually Pros are gone in less than a week, if they don't already have someone in line for it. These were both manuals and it took awhile to sell them, compared to AT Pros. You have a very small pool of people willing to pay $40k+ for a truck with a manual transmission these days. I've always enjoyed driving manuals, but my left ankle is in pretty bad shape, so it's not really an option for me as a daily driver.

The MT owners are just louder. MTs make up less than 5% of sales. It is a selling point for the brand, but not a strong one except for a few die-hards.

I don't think willing to learn or know how to use a manual transmission, its just that they've gone the way of the dinosaur for trucks in these modern these times. Not many folks want to drive a manual when an automatic is offered that gets as good or better fuel economy, especially in larger cities.
