Damn, you guys are making me want to buy a muzzleloader now. Are they now considered a firearm in washington and require a 4473? I seem to remember the way a projectile is expelled from a muzzleloader vs center fire and the definition difference between them, the 4473 wasn't required to purchase a muzzleloader. I'm sure that's changed now, I haven't really followed the changes in firearm laws the last 3yrs or so.

Actually this came up at work a couple weeks ago, it's not a firearm by federal law, but is by WA law*, but ATF is Federal and they do the 4473, so you don't have to do one.

No 4473 or background check required. AFAIK, can be shipped directly to your door, no need for a transfer. Can be carried in a vehicle with powder and bullet in the pipe as long as there is no cap as well (or powder in the pan for you flinty guys).

Depends on the muzzleloader. My t/c encore had to fill out the paper work, but that's because you can swap barrels to a centerfire.

I’m over by Yakima, back in the 90’s there was birds everywhere. But a farmer told me the rat pellets they put in orchard rows in the winter the pheasants love and has killed a lot of them off. That and clear cutting the corn down to the soil has taken a lot of habitat. Moses has a ton of birds I hunted deer there a couple years and and flushed tons.

Bucks are rutting. Started Saturday in my area. Last couple days my trail cameras are blowing up with deer.
Took this little guy yesterday morning with my new ruger 450 bushmaster.

Nope, just SW WA. I like big slow projectiles and straight wall cartridges.

cool! was just curious. it's a cool round, tons of stopping power at shorter distances, looks like you were in a fairly treed area, so no need to reach out beyond a couple hundred yrds. anyway.

Correct. Plus, like what you just said. I match the gun/caliber to the ground that I hunt. I spend most all my time in the timber/brush. A far shot is 150 yards.

Impressed with that 450 on that little buck. He didn't go 20.

Got my bear finally. Shot him Nov 1 last year and got him back Oct 31 this year. Measured 7 ft exactly. 19" skull. This guy is abnormally tall! Bear of my lifetime -- kind of excited to be one and done because he was a pain in the ass to pack out. Waiting on the wrinkles to come out and then he's going in my home office.

Turns out I'm even worse at finding blacktail than I am at finding whitetail, and I'm pretty bad at finding whitetail.
