    Grillcraft install!!! :D:D:D

Went smooth, took me about 3 hours... And the beers were ice cold.

    Does Plasti-Dip count as a mod ?
Found way too many scratches from the last trail ride. It's still a new truck, so I went and got a buffer and some ScratchX. Much better. Still visible in some spots, but I can live with them.

Well tonight just finished installing my new Viper VSS5000 alarm/remote start with smartstart so i can start and lock and unlock from my iphone . Took me a couple of days with working on it a few hours after work each night . And if the wiring diagram that came with it was not wrong things would have worked out better . But its all in and works great . Only problem tonight now is the smartstart service is down . Hope that dont happen too much !

I don't know man. That's a pretty serious mod there. I don't think you'll be able to sell it after that one.

started the total-guage-cluster-makeover mod. Finished Part 1 prototype system integration tests today. IT WORKS!!!

Part One: Ultraguage + Anywhere Map GPS + 7" LCD + Rangevideo OSD (On Screen Display) + CCD Camera = "Multi-Function Display" aka the MFD.
The LCD is the center screen on an overlay panel that will replace the center three-circle portion of the dash. The LCD shows the video from a forward looking CCD camera attached to the outward facing side of the rear view mirror. Rangevideo OSD overlays GPS data replicating the HUD from an F-16 (Compass, Speed ladder, Altitude ladder, Rate of climb, Rate of turn, GPS coordinates for current position and "home", and two temperature sensors, & more). Above the LCD is an "annunciator panel" connected to each of the warning lights in the instrument cluster. To the left of the LCD is the GPS. Below that are power switches to the GPS charger and OSD module. To the right of the LCD is the Ultraguage. It's surface mounted at the moment but will be flush mounted later with a set of remote buttons.

Still to come is a replacement steering wheel with no airbag, the top of the wheel removed and a small switch panel enclosure attached to the exposed ends. The switch panel on the left will replace the existing cruise controls with two momentary and one three-pole momentary switches. The panel on the left will controll the video switch between front and side cameras for the MFD's LCD. The stereo will have the backup camera.

At present, the MFD panel is in it's infant stage. All the components are installed and functioning but it really looks like a prototype. All that's left is to wire up the annnciator panel and complete the enclosure. Ive ordered a replacement dash panel so I can un-do this if i ever chose to sell my baby.

    Part Two: Jensen UV-8 + NAV 102 + Cobra 148 + CB antenna tuner/matcher + Remote speaker + ICOM IC-6 Aviation transciever + 110, 12 & 5v power ports + Cobra radar detector = "COMM PANEL".
The center console is getting the over-stuffing treatment. A scosche double-din install kit will be the cover over a CB/Stereo stack mounted directly to the dash/frame supports. The CB is on the bottom mounted directly to the dash subframe. The stereo is secured directly to the CB and then also strapped into the metal crossmember under the dash. Then the Scosche faceplate just covers it all up. The CB sticks out beyond the faceplate a bit but that's to be expected. The bottom of the CB front provides a handy place to mount the blue lights that illuminate the cupholders. I had tried the CB on top but I couldnt get it deep enough to allow the LCD screen from the Stereo to open up. Putting it on the bottom required some hacksawing to the Scosche mounts but it came out pretty nice. Fit is sold with no squeeks for vibrations. Where the clock and hazard lights are (for the moment) I'll put in the antenna matcher/tuner on the far right with a black abs sheet that covers the rest of the holes. I'll put a covered toggle switch to control the hazard lights, and a new blue illuminated rockers for the fog lights and the bed lights.
The AC controls still need those amber LEDs replaced with blue ones...
Below that, I mounted a 3" external speaker, 110v AC plug, and a 5v USB plug to panel that sits flush with that little useless box in front of the cupholders.

Part Three: Saitec Joystick + reckless rewiring = "Cyclic Shifter". The joystick has an 8-way "hat" switch, trigger switch, and 5 momentary thumb buttons. The trigger will work the horn, the 8-way hat will drive the GoLight remote spotlight. As for the other 5...Im not totally certain yet. Im considering using the top left & top right for turn signals but the other three are still undecided. I've got the joystick modded to fit the shifter lever and tested clearances and fitment. All that's left is to wire it up but I need to close out Part One and Two before moving on with this one

Yeah, there's a theme here... Nickle to the guy who guesses it!
