Saw this happening today and thought of you, Deeds. If you can't tell, there is pallets in the back of a sedan.

Why aren't you using a SHCS? They are ASTM A574...:boink:
Geez! I'd be afraid of looking too hard at those and having them brake!

I like SHCS’s but the only thing is they rust on stuff like this.

I thought I had posted one of these here before, these rings get welded to a disc. I was cutting the rings from a tube today.

That tube & plate are pure quartz. It takes an oxygen/hydrogen large volumes of each) flame to melt/weld the pieces together.

I worked at a university that had a glass shop where they did some quartz work. I'd visit when the tech had a job in quartz. The shop was small I could only stand to be in it for 10 or 15 minutes it was so hot; also had to have special glasses to see what was going on.

DLRIII is a real artist and highly skilled.

Absolutely, you nailed it. Thats the sort of shop I work in, except were the largest Quartz operation I've seen before. I've been in a couple tiny shops, with that kind of heat it sounds like a nightmare.

    Edit: thank you sir.

No, not quite. Im not a metal welder but I believe its closer to that. As stated by @INBONESTRYKER we use hand torches to heat the glass and weld whichever surfaces were welding together. We do actually melt quartz rod into gap between the 2 edges to be welded, but it doesn't look like brazing.

Not this. This is anACQ1000 hour coating. Plus, it adds a dry lubrication that cuts the needed torque down.

Regarding the couple of guys with pallets in their cars, I thought I was doing good getting 6 or so at a time in my Pilot for a pallet wall. Turns out I'm a lightweight!

@StayinStock thought you’d like these. One of our customers came in the store with a case of lures this morning and said where’s your son? He was brushing his teeth and when he finished he came up front. Customer said this is what I was telling you I make, pick you one out. He gave me one as well. He carves them from scratch and paints them
