Found out why my MPG was so high...it somehow got set to Imperial gallons rather than US gallons. Now I'm showing 20-21, right on track with my actual calculated MPG at the pump. I would have been perfectly happy with 20 before I thought I was getting 25

Set a new personal record for MPG last night driving from Harrisonburg, Va to Arlington, Va.

29.6 mpg average for 135.1 miles.

All highway except for 8 minutes of idling in a Cook Out drive-thru and a couple residential miles.

(Note: this was with heavy use of hypermiling tactics with little use of the throttle.. targeting ~1600 rpm and 63 mph but slowing to as much as 55 on some minor inclines.)

I drove to far south Texas last week. Driving 82-93 mph most of the way, it still got over 19 mpg on the highway.

I have been in my TSS for about a month now, and on average driving 34 miles back and forth to work on the freeway in Houston I am averaging around 22.5 at 70 to 75 MPH. I have the 2.7 auto and everything is stock. Not as good as my 2016 Nissan Max at 27, but not bad considering it is a truck and the tire size.

Just for kicks I'm gonna respond here.

When bone stock, my 2017 TRD OR got 16-17ish mpg hwy and pretty much the same around town.
Then I got 285 e load tires and guess what? It pretty much stayed the same.
Then I got 4.88 gears. My mileage improved to 17-18ish mpg hwy.
Then I got OVTune. Improvement to 18-20 hwy.

Cruise control always lowers mpg at highway speeds. I use it on long trips.

Had an MBRP 3" exhaust. It was just a noise maker. No effect on mpg.
Had an AFE CAI and while it did help with towing torque and HP at higher rpms, its only effect while not towing was basically just making the truck sound great. No effect on mpg while not towing and even then is speculative.

Through all that, this the current configuration:

    2.5" lifted on Fox 2.0
    Dakar Leafs
    Stock intake
    OVTune dump tubes
    Gibson 2.5" catback
OVTune 2.0 Beta (19800) (premium fuel, Shell 93)
    265/70/17's
    No heavy armor/winch/etc
Rear seat delete with lock box
Added weight of lowpro steel front bumper and JTM rear bumper and TRD skid makes the truck pretty much about the same weight it was stock, just a little heavier.

Around town I'm at 17-20, depending on the length of the trip and type of road speeds.
Highway I'm at 19-21, sometimes see it hit 22, but only on majority flats with at least a mild tailwind.

Unfortunately, it's one of those vehicles that you have to mess with to achieve desired results and drivability.
Now, fortunately, I love working on my truck so I accept it.

22.8 is the best I’ve done so far. With 265/75-16 tires. No other mods

It seems that I get better mileage when driving on the highway when it is raining. I have noticed this several times.

Wtf? i filled up with shell E10 premium in my v6 and now have a 112 miles on that tank. I've noticed a lazier truck and slightly over 1 mpg loss over the same roads and speed traveled this week. Can't wait for this tank to run out and put back the 87 regular.

Premium burns faster than regular. Our trucks are tuned from Toyota to be optimized for 87.

I make about 19 MPG but I drive pretty conservatively and mine's stock.

It’s because you bought gas from Shell.

it takes a couple tanks for the ECU to adjust to the change in octane.
