How easy is this to install?

 

As easy as flying in a jet fighter for the first time without training...blind folded, in a stray jacket....AS a passenger along for the ride. Not much to it.

Serious note, VERY EASY. Plus, you've got me, so you really don't need to tap any brain cells. That is, if you can't get past the great video or well written color guide included...I won't judge. Not my place. Here to make sure you get what you paid for or else none of this that we do here at N2 is really worth it without happy folks. Record so far is 100% as far as beyond happy. We aim to keep it that way if I have to be on the phone with you while my wife was in labor. True story and yes, this really happened. I think you get our dedication to you. These are NOT just words. Many on here can back this up.

 

Just installed my kit and after I open the door the engine shuts off like it’s supposed to but then the fortin unit makes 2 clicking sounds and my dash cluster lights dim at the same time as the clicks. Is this normal?

 

Yes. If it's working as in remote starting and stopping, then yes.

 

Just received mine today, got it installed fairly quickly and easily (~30min). Only trouble I had was stripping the TPMS pink wire (2020 model). Really wish no stripping needed cause I ended up cutting the wire shorter haha.

Quick question, sorry if it's been covered, I admittedly have not searched this thread too diligently.

Say I have this remote start installed.
I start the vehicle 5 minutes before I am going to actually get in the vehicle because it's hot and I want the A/C to cool it down.
After 5 minutes I go to get in my vehicle and the engine automatically shuts off because I opened the door.
My vehicle is cooled down but I physically have to restart the vehicle via the push button.

Is this correct?

 

That is how all the remote start systems work for the push button vehicles. its a safety feature of toyota. if you have an hkey model it will stay on when u open the door.

 

Thanks for the reply. Curious. Maybe an aftermarket Toyota thing? My buddy’s Ram 2500 is push start and his remote start is not affected by opening of doors.

 

As @blitzkrieg3002 stated, this is a Toyota engineered design that cannot be bypassed by ANY after market remote start OR EVEN Toyota's own OEM remote starts that they have via Remote Connect on some models/trims of PUSH TO START only. There is no way around it and you will NOT find any remote start, OEM or not for Toyota/Lexus push to start that does otherwise. Trust me, we wouldn't have done it this way if we could have avoided it. We can thank Toyota for this. Although, as you mentioned, there ARE other makes out there that don't have this security feature implemented and are still push to start...beats me. I mean I know WHY they did it, but it doesn't explain WHY other auto manufacturers avoid it and still are secure...Toyota engineer behind this must've been hungover that day perhaps...

 

While I love my truck, Toyota seems to have engineered quite a few things that make aftermarket guys like N2 have to really work for their piece of equipment!

Wish I had researched a remote start before the summer’s end here in TX.

 

There is always winter months coming up...it's not only for summer! We're in what's called remote start season currently and volume is moving significantly...this is partly because most states experience VERY harsh n cold winters and need to not just warm the cabin, but allow for the remote starter to defrost the glass and side views, as well as warm up seat warmers if equipped...fall time is upon us and so most folks are gearing up to put these devices on now before the first cold snap...

Then for those that are in temperate climates, they just want to get their engines warmed up before hopping in to put less wear (although with current engines nowadays and oil viscosities/types used, they've been designed to start and go) but if you're old school like me, you'll always need that peace of mind of allowing the engine to stretch before it's marathon...

 

Just installed the equipment on my 2019 Tacoma. Great product and very easy to install! Have a question regarding tpms light though. I remote start the truck and light tpms light blinks several times and goes solid. When I insert key and turn two clicks the light goes out. Is this normal?

 

Yup. Normal. That light goes away when you do key override after remote starting (getting in, putting key in to ON position (2-clicks) then tapping the brake pedal, then drive off).

That light is also NOT present when you start the vehicle normally, by hand, not remote start.

Your TPMS is still FULLY functional. It is not disabled whatsoever. It still operates regardless.
