Yeah I was worried about that with my truck when I got it a few years ago with so few miles (24k). But luckily everything has always worked great, elocker and 4wd. Got lucky there

 

Less of a worry for a 1st gen Tacoma since the tcase is still manual. I think you 04 does have a button but you still have a stick for the transfer case, yeah?

Do the elocker motors fail from not being used?

 

Even leas to worry about on a manual 5lug

 

I’m getting my midlife crisis out of the way early.

 

I've heard that the actuators for the elocker can get finicky if they never get used but I wonder if that has more to do with the elements the truck is in more than anything.

Yeah I've got the electronic ADD switch but still have a tcase lever for 4lo
