Damn, Toyota really F'd up the third Gens. A diamond in the rough is an understatement.

Automatic transmissions are mapped horrendously. Rear end is geared to high. Atkinson's cycle is a joke. MTs may get a 4.30 rear end but they massacred the reverse. Even the stupid cab mount was poorly located. And let's not forget the all-season tires on the off-road editions... Come on.

The off Roads in the Pros should all come with a lower gear ratios, be favorably tuned for horsepower and torque that is more "performance" oriented, and the aweful transmission maps tuned more for performance. What kind off-road enthusiast wants to drive around at 30 mph in fifth gear with 30" tires at stock ride height with reduced engine compression to "gain" fuel efficiency?

Praise the Lord for Orange Virus!!!

Yup. Having driven both the AT and MT extensively, they both have issues (the AT more so than the MT). Luckily at this point, pretty much everything has a fix.

Getting in to my garage without slipping the clutch. I got to get up it, around the daughters car, and have only a couple inches to spare on the right side. Even then, I can only open the door one notch.

@Mooseditty17, running 2.0 on 04B04, 87 base, stock set up, no VF tune pack. Can I load your tune? I know my tires are a tick smaller

I grabbed his most recent tune located in his signature and loaded it on my entirely stock truck (except slightly larger and heavier tires). Truck is running the best it ever has

I am happy to share my variant but it includes the AGM tweaks so you'd want to reset those to stock (like 2.0 base) if you are interested. It's based on my own efforts and then some rounds from @Mooseditty17 but it's my base with 91+ and stock gear/tires. Just PM if interested.

Does your throttle seem to flatten out around 4000 rpm in first gear? Is it as simple as raising this new throttle torque table to 7K?

    Thanks bud!
Currently in a ground blind, awaiting Bambi's older / hotter sister. Wanted to see if looking at this, if I could make any sense of Mat's suggestions.

Nice sounds fun lol and you can adjust higher then the (4000) not 100% sure how high to go, will try 4200 and see what happens ha. Also what was it to start? Should be fun!

Has anyone messed with this yet? I found the map he's talking about but I'm not sure what he means by "the map should be flat 4000"." I guess for "raise the values until you get full throttle" I can just do a multiplier on the table and see how it goes.

My tune (with the help of all you guys) is getting pretty close to how I like it now. More power, Shifting when it should, etc. At least there's a lot less quirks to drive me nuts lol

I am playing with it now I think he meant raise the 4000 tell you get 100% throttle. Also do you have to be driving to log the throttle or can the truck just be off with the Ignition on?
