I cover mine up with mud and scratches. :) No really I havent washed my truck in over a year. I keep the inside spotless!

I would think if you claybared and buffed it with some good wax. I will prolly take mine and have it detailed waxed and weather guarded again. I do it once a year right before winter hits bad.

x2. Check out the ask a detailer thread also. Read up on polishes. Depending on how bad they are you may need to go with a polish or a buff but you may get away with a good wax like the ones reccomended in the aformentioned thread. I got some in my truck now that I haven't had a chance to work on so let me know how it goes for ya.

Polish and wax with a random orbital buffer.

The swirles come from mechanical buffers that do not have the random orbital feature.

I use the Wax Shop Super Glaze to take care of surface scratches. Super easy to apply and remove and the best part is it doesn't leave any powdery residue! Makes a black vehicle look like you can reach into the paint job after you are finished with it. Here is a link if you want to check it out:

I have also used Nu Finish Scratch Doctor. It is a clear coat scratch remover that removes surface scratches, swirl marks, and haze. It is pretty good stuff too but you will need to wax after you have used it.

They must be removed through the use of abrasive compound/polishes. Takes patience to do properly, but worth it in the end. Proper wash techniques can signficantly delay their return.
Do you have any products or machines at your disposal? Willing to purchase them? Where are you located...having an experienced detailer may be better the first time around if you're not familiar w/ detailing, then just maintain afterwards.

Prevented measures would be not to go into those gas station automated car washes or dealership car washes and when you wash your truck make sure all the mud and dust is off the paint before you start scrubbing, and use like a micro fiber wash mitten.

    Use a good polish like...
Then use a Porter Cable random orbital polisher....
Then finish it off with your favorite wax.

Depends how bad it is. If you want, take a picture of the hood, or a side panel in direct sunlight (try to almost capture the sun in the paint). This will give a good idea of how bad it is and we can point you to a good starting point based on that. Well, that, plus your expectations as to how close to flawless you want the finish to be.

This is where bought mine: You can buy a whole kit with polishing pads and the whole nine yards or just buy the polisher itself.

Depends, do you have more than one car? If you want to maintain the finish of more than one car, then it's definitely worth it.
