The Tundra’s IIHS crash test results show just how poorly the early 2000’s tech has aged.

Hard pass on buying a “new” truck from 2007.

True story. I have two friends with an 18 and a 19 and they were pretty disappointed after they got them, compared to other manufactures offerings. I guess Toyota makes enough money on them and people still keep purchasing them anyway. I wouldn't change either.

I had a CTSV for a short period. Fun car but I find that the older I get the less that I drive fast. So I'll stick to trucks.

I considered the Tundra, but after looking at the mpg. The tacoma and tundra MPG are similar so I didnt see a point. But I do like the way they look.

Originally got a loan to take advantage of a promotion and got an additional $500 discount, then paid off the balance 3 months later. No other loans or payments other than the mortgages on two homes, which will be paid off before the time I retire. After 6 kids between my wife and I, and a divorce that hit me hard financially in 2008, I feel very blessed and am now in big time saving mode from now until I retire in 8 years.

Thats what I've been thinking. Most people report 13mpg on the tundra, why would I keep driving the Tacoma if its giving me 2mpg more? I get a truck almost twice the size, a lot more comfortable to drive, and only sacrifice 2mpg? Im in.

Bought my future wife a ring back in 2017, she paid off my truck in return. We weren't going into a marriage in debt and have stayed that way since. Only a mortgage over our heads now.

The point of the post was to make fun of who ever said a Tacoma loses 30% value the day they drive it off the lot. I guess you missed that. :)

Building my vehicles has nothing to do with impressing anyone except myself. Its about making what I want to drive and how I want it to perforn. Plus, its a hobby and lets face it, some extra activity we all need in our lives. You can go to the gym, i'll take mounting 100lb tires and swapping 60lb leafs, drive shafts, engines, etc.... over that any day :)

I owe $77k on my primary residence. Ive got about $70k (excluding purchase price) in my Tacoma and I don't regret any of it. I built a vehicle that drives on the street and has creature comforts like any lexus or mercedes suv's, but on 35's can do 0-60 in 6 seconds and handle whatever abuse i put it through off road. you cant just go buy that so i built it. no regrets!

    great plan... orrr

SAS and 4-link the '01, gear the Tacoma (as long as manufacturer date is after 01/01/06), and use the Taco to pull the new buggy to the dunes to jump the sh*t outta it.

6 of one, half dozen of the other :)
