I know i asked him about some before, but i have my own welder and im getting pretty decent at welding, plus i dont want to spend $250+ to get some when i could make some with a little time, and a lot less money on Steel.

i welded them on first... should have welded the sliders to the mounts then to the frame... it was a pain to weld all around the sliders and put in the gussets on top

the steel supplier only sells 20' lengths. so i got 2 20' lengths. the shop cut them into thirds (80" lengths) to fit into my truck

it cost me $126 for 2 20' sticks, a piece of angle, 2 pieces of plate for gussets.

i had enough left over to make half of my bumper...

Ok i thought i read some where $60 for yours and i was calling around getting prices for Steel and 20' sticks were $45.00 a piece.

May i ask why did ya buy angle? i didnt see any used in the sliders

And how big of plate did you buy?

I was thinking about buying 1/4" 4 inch wide flat steel and cutting my plates out of that.

i used angle for the frame mounts so the mounts went under the frame, look at pic above.

3/16" is plenty. the frame is only like 1/8" think so 3/16" is already tougher than the frame itself...

i also bought a 2"x3" angle scrap about 36" long and cut 8 4" wide pieces for brackets. also bought 3/16" thick 3" wide strap for making upper mounts (notice my mounts are 2 pieces welded together) and cut 3" triangles from the strap for gussets

bought a 12" square 3/16" plate too for misc. crap. hade to make a mount on for the rear most support because the frame curves up. ill get a pic for ya tomorrow

EDIT: $60 was the total investment on my bumper
