Axle practice is accomplished. Comp weight is 205 and did 215 today fairly easy for a new PR!

car deadlift should be easy(ish) and husafel won’t be a struggle at only 275.

no idea how to practice the Hercules hold andddd need to train for stones but haven’t bought sleeves or a grip shirt.

Everything seems pretty easy (so far) in terms of competing in the open class. Plenty of time to keep the gains coming!

Also not a fan of the Cerberus dual ring system. When you loosen the belt some, the rings slip past each other and make it where you have to redo it before the next lift.

Rubber is the ideal water proof material, probably sucks for a running shoe though lol

My dad got a goat on kodiac island last week. Said incredible hunt, unrelenting terrain, and will not hunt there again because he’s too old for that shit haha
He said the most aggressive terrain he’s been in. They had to hike miles into camp with like 80lbs of gear.

Congrats to him! Kodiak is a beautiful place. Had to have been nice to get away from modern day bullshit and breathe a little. Did he do any conditioning or prep beforehand?

Yes. He filled his pack with gear and weights to be equal to about 80lbs (his actual pack was 55lbs). He hiked 6-8 miles a day for awhile. And did some trail running with a lighter pack. He lives in CO at 7,500ft which helps too. My dad is basically the 68 year old version of Cam Hanes.

He flew in with a guy who was going to hunt with their group. Dad said this guy didn’t have quality gear and kinda acted like hiking around his neighborhood with a backpack was solid conditioning.
They flew into the island and had to hike several miles into camp with all their gear.
This guy got a few miles inland and basically said “fuck this, didn’t sign up for this” and left. He had to get a float plane to come back and get him off the island LOL.

I can’t imagine doing the climbing they did.

Unexpected complete day off today

I looked at my watch data yesterday and realized my HR was elevated which = not recovering between runs. I have Indigenous People's Day off tomorrow so I decided to take a nice rest day and push my 24 miler to tomorrow.

Strongman events day for me. Nutrition and rest was off today but I got it done. Basically did 3.5 hours of training on 100g of carbs from Karbolyn.... Won't be doing that again.

Also my hands are fucked now after farmers holds.

Do the liquid carbs work well for you without messing up your stomach?

They do for intra workout. On event days I usually have at least 350g carbs in 3 meals before training. Today I slacked and woke up late so I missed my early meals.

So just out of curiosity do you have a formula of carbs/hour in your intra or just drink as you desire?

I just drink it during my workout. I have a gallon of water prior, then Karbolyn intra, then another gallon after.

Rob Kearney( AKA worlds gayest strongman) tore his tricep today going for the log record. Sucks to see. Wild thought to know you can be a second away from tearing something doing this kinda stuff.

And yeah, but what's even crazier is how tiny he is and still hitting close to WR numbers.
