Those were my exact thoughts too. Why spend more an not use the truck like it should be used for. Depending on what I'm doing in the next 5 or so years I may go back to a RAM but for now I'm happy.
I also may need a bigger truck because I keep buying old Gravely tractors. So who knows what the future may hold.

If toyota built a new tundra the size of the gen1 i had i would of bought another in a heartbeat. Instead everyone keeps making larger full size trucks.

I decided while replacing the cooler to take advantage of the 115v inverter and purchased a portable refrigerator. I found a 21L dual 12v DC/115v AC one on an Amazon Lighting sale for $160. It works great, and I have a power station that will power it while at the campsite to not have to worry about discharging the truck battery. After using it for a number of trips, I don't think I'll ever go back to a cooler.

I was in a GM and wasn’t sure if I would fit as I’m a big dude. I tried to test drive a few and it was roomy but I couldn’t fit in one with a sunroof.

Been in my Tacoma for a week, and I’m enjoying it.

Have gone from 2nd gen Tundras, then to Tacomas, now in a 3/4 ton. All depends where you're at in life.

I went from a 2011 Ram Quad Cab 5.7L to a 2021 TRD ORSB. No regrets.

When my son graduated from HS in 2007 I no longer needed the room. He was 6'3-240 lbs and wore a size 14 shoe. He won't fit in the back of my Tacoma. I traded a 2002 F150 Supercrew for the Tacoma. With just my wife and me the Tacoma served us well for the 1st 9 years I owned it.

But by 2016 I had several grand kids, the Tacoma was approaching 200,000 miles and I needed the ability to haul and tow more than the Tacoma could handle. I had the option of trading the Tacoma on a new 1/2 ton truck, or for almost exactly the same money I could keep the Tacoma and buy a 2 year old used truck. I chose the latter. My wife now uses the Tacoma as her daily driver. She does a lot of gardening and builds lots of craft stuff so it's nice for her to have her own truck to pick up what she needs.

I'll probably keep the Tacoma till it dies and then rebuild it. Unless I die 1st, which is a real possibility. My oldest granddaughter is 12 and has requested it when I die. My next full size will most likely be a 3/4 ton. I wish I'd done that 4 years ago. I can get a 3/4 ton equipped the way I want it cheaper than a 1/2 ton. Fuel mileage isn't more than 1-2 mpg worse, but they are much more capable.

I like the mpg and the fact that its easier to park. My longbed workbeast I would just give up and park waaaay the fuck out in the parking lot because it needed 4 spaces.

I came from 2 Tundras and really liked them. I don't really need a full size any longer so I am trying a Tacoma. I sure miss the 100 hp and the MPG are very close so I am on the fence.

Not that it matters, it was a GMC; only real difference was horn badge and grill. That one was a '99, last year for the 6.5 turbodiesel before the D-Max. It was a good truck, and I used it as a DD for many years, but as you say, hard to maneuver, plus putting tires on it was expensive; 6 tires on an average of every 27-30K miles.

Every dually out here is driven by an old fart who has no idea how wide it is so the rear fenders are always missing.

I went from a Dodge 2500 5.9 Cummins to a Tacoma TRD Pro. Only had the Tacoma less than a week, so I can't offer much, but I will say, I miss the fuel econ on the Cummins.

Also, I have one of those 4-way receiver hitches with 1 7/8" ball, 2" ball, 2 5/16" ball, and a hook. There isn't a single space in the tacoma that I can store this hitch other than the actual receiver. It won't fit under or behind the back seat, and it won't fit in the little bed storage box.
