I've only been a handful of times.
You guys will make it through the TransAlta Road no problem. This time of year there shouldn't be much water to cross. One time it was 2ft deep at one spot and that's the highest (along main trail). I don't have a diff breather...
There are lots of places to cross the water as it's a wide open river valley. Hard to get lost as you just keep driving straight... If you take any turns you will be going into trails.

Not sure how the trails are looking this year. I've done some of the main trails stock in the past and I was fine.
I know the area was ridiculously busy this summer with covid. I mean not a single place to camp along the TransAlta...

Get the Avenza app (free) and download the Ghost map (free). It is GPS tracked so you know where you are on the map. No way to get lost... lol
There are also maps at the main trail heads. I attached the PDF of the map too.

I want to do the Margaret Lake run. I heard the full loop is a little aggressive this year. No need to wreck my DD haha I have a quad and sled to go wreck in the bush.

Thanks for the info. To be honest i never been on a single trail, I never led a trail and I'm hoping that an experienced trail driver will take lead. I'm starting to think what have I gotten myself into.

May meet for the convoy but I’m slow on the highway (112ish) so I’d hold everyone up. We’ll see....

I wouldn't worry about speeding, in fact as a convoi I believe that we shouldn't be going past 110 anyway...depends on how many vehicles take part in it we will attract too much attention as it is. I'd say come for the early meet.
    Thanks

I’ll have to play the early meet by ear as I already have a long drive to the south side and don’t want to leave at 5:30 or earlier.

Changes due to fires and trails closures. We plan on switching over to Limestone Mountain near Sundre or Caroline. We will try to keep the same date and time, we will update more in the next few days. Thanks everyone.

    No experience.....

Yes, the fire is complicating things but this could be the plan B option. Still should be a nice drive and doable with stock rigs.

So far it looks like Limestone Mountain . I'm still not sure from what town we will head into it...Sundre or Caroline. Now hopefully the fires won't spread into that area or close by...I wish I had more concrete info but this is what I have so far.
