2011 TRD OR, OEM backup camera w/ ilx w650

I installed an

$280 Alpine ILXW650 Alpine iLX-W650 Digital Multimedia Receiver with CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility

Alpine ILXW650 in my truck, it's a 2011 with the OEM camera in the mirror, and the JBL system.. it's it's currently using the Alpine, and a scosche JBL amp interface (I know that doesn't really matter). I watched a video from another thread on TW, and the guy was using a plug behind the dash that had 4 wires going into it. I have the same plug, but with 10-12 wires, most of the colors, there are 2 of. I've also read that the power needs to be stepped down to 6v, and then I read that 12v is ok. Can anyone help me.make sense of this? I'm going to attach a screenshot of the plug I have.


Another question I have, is that I can't seem to connect/splice the center, solid wire in the RCA cable, without it breaking. Am I ok to use something like this?

 

Since your cam is in the mirror, I don’t believe the wiring for the cam is in the harness behind the radio (although I may be incorrect about this)

Pop out the little cubby to the left of the steering wheel and see if there is a little white connector mounted on the fuse box

Any idea what the plug I pictured is for? There's a few back there that are unused since I put the new headunit in.

 

Not entirely sure off the top of my head. I only have the wiring schematics for 3rd gen saved so I’d have to do some digging at work.

I think this is the only car I've owned that I haven't been able to find an FSM online!

 

are you trying to get the backup camera to display on your head unit?

 

Same issue just without the display already going to the mirror, did you find your way around this ? Also have an

alpine ilxw650 coming in this week and want to install once instead of tossing it in and taking it back out to figure out the camera wiring. Haven’t checked out behind my coin tray near the fuse box yet but I do have the same plug in my headliner console. My take on it is that some of the wires are for the compass/temperature gauges long with homelink, as well as the rear view camera wiring all tied into one plug

 

I never did. Android auto stop working on mine, and I haven't bothered to figure it out, considering that once getting it, I learned I'm not a big fan of Android Auto.
