    24 today.

Went pretty well. I did this run Luke Skywalker style. The only gear, food, and liquids I had were...
    EC67B0A5-082B-47F2-B78F-D5378808D942.jpg

I had all my food and fluids in my vest.

Speedgoats were pretty solid. Comfortable the whole way, and I didn’t trip on the thick soles which was my fear. Did very well straight out of the box on a 24 miler.

I could easily do another 6 miles for a 50k (which is in two weeks). But to do 26 more for a 50M?
Yeah, I can tell its not going to be an enjoyable experience and I’m going to contemplate suicide multiple times during the race.

Just like at home right? You are told what to do, when to do it, how to it, and (alot of times) how you're doing it wrong.

Building up this week to prep for a heavy/max next week. I have not lifted over 85% in a long time so it should be fun.

Idk how much actual training stuff I'll post on IG coming into this January comp. It's gonna be huge and I'm defending champ, don't want everyone to know what I'm bringing.

Heavy leg day was fun. Did 5x3-4 front squats, some leg extensions, yoke walked probably 400ft total, some squat machine stuff and then a leg press burnout.

scale said 203lbs today so I’m staying decently consistent on weight while training which means I gotta be slowly burning fat and gaining muscle, yea?

Just keep watching the scale, the mirror, and paying attention to how you feel in the gym. You'll know if you are successfully recomping or not.

My race is in two weeks, given the scale has been creeping up I'm going to try to drop a couple lbs between now and then. Lets see if my body cooperates or not.

Yesterday on the trail I realized when it comes to trail endurance running, at least for me, I don't fight physical energy when I'm out there, not really running fast enough where that's a problem. I fight more muscular fatigue persistently past a certain point.

I have no idea how runners who don't seriously lift survive ultras. I feel like I need to work so much more on heavy lifts to improve my long distance running, like people who don't do that how do you get any better?

My hip flexors are my greatest weakness. So this week I'm going to try to do more squats and work on getting the weight up.

My wife is a psycho...it happens to be my birthday today but more importantly it’s legs day. She suggested I do sets of 43 reps for my age...and, being a man challenged by his wife I can no longer walk.
