I did both then realized the most recent few "gear lock" search results only specifically mentioned downshift tables. Guess that new compare feature would've come in play here but it's all good. It's one of a handful of changes I've been able to understand and make. I'm scared to flash what I have so far without knowing if there's another table I needed to change (not just specific to gear locking).

Isn't @Mooseditty17 on 04B40? I'm 04A61 so I'd have to spend credits just to open his tune, right?

Flash button will be fixed tomorrow. Sorry.
It was a simple little error, mismatch on 2 source builds.

All issues, questions, etc need to go to zendesk please, with details of exactly what causes it.

I have added gear lock for a few people to their tunes and I remember doing both upshift and downshift ECT tables and it definetely worked.

    @Mooseditty17 @PapaRee

That gearlock edit enables ECT + S-mode to become gearlock correct? ECT by itself remains whatever it is? Sorry, I'm one of them MT folk. Red headed step child and all that

By pressing etc you enable the shift maps that have one speed only. If you left your truck in drive, it would shift... Eventually. So you then enable SMode to control the shifts as you see fit. Now, if you used SMode without etc, you're gonna have SMode as it was originally designed. Pending you didn't change anything on SMode maps.

So let's say the lowest value on your etc upshift map from 5 to 6 is 68 mph. Your truck will not shift into sixth gear until you're going that fast. Regardless of whether or not you tell it to. Same can be said for your downshifts if you're cruising around in fourth gear your truck will not downshift unless you tell it to or it gets to the lowest value that you entered. So if your low value from 3-4 downshift is 25 mph. If you don't switch the down shift on S mode your truck will still downshift on its own once it hits that set value. Bearing in mind that the values you enter aren't exactly the values the truck shifts at according to your speedometer. Etc. Etc. The values you are entering is just the absolute of which it is going to shift without your input. So for me I changed my upshift five to six down to 60 mph. That enables me to put the truck into sixth gear sooner than what you can with your values at 68 mph. (Or whatever it was)
The absolute downshift values I left alone. I didn't want to push my luck too much with holding a gear too long and lugging.

How is Mat doing the gear lock in S+ECT, or S mode only? I sort of like my ECT as is.

I’m curious, if that’s all there is to it, wouldn’t OVTune have released 2.0 final with gearlock? You know way more than I do on this topic, so I may be dead wrong, but I feel like OVTune would have included that as an option if that’s all there was to it.

@OVTune - is this your recommended way of adding gearlock?

Adding gear lock causes you to lose the ECT function that we are used to.
I just increased shift points in ECT to make a more aggressive ECT (which would be good for towing).
This gives me a “performance” tune in drive, “towing” tune (higher RPM shift points) in ECT, and regular “S” mode.

S-Mode always forces a shift? Is there a way to shift in to a gear that is quite unsuitable for your current attitude? Or leave it in a gear that won't work well, such as 6th at a stop?

However Mat implemented it, it would downshift to prevent severe lug... lower rpm limit, and I think maybe upshift at redline? Not certain about the last.

I figure there's gotta be something in place to prevent that, based on what else I've seen. Sounds like the ECU/tune do a fantastic job of keeping our edits within safe bounds. Of course, I could be way off base since my knowledge of pertinent topics is embarrassingly low.

i saw those, they were set to zero by default. i was expecting something expressly labeled "dump tube.." but i guess he was referring to the whole .vft filename. Shellshock are you 100% on this? i want to finally install them next week but only if i'm certain i can handle any code. asking because the bytes are defaulted to zero which i wouldn't expect.

anyone successfully cleared a dump tube related code with these byte settings?
