Bringing this back up. I have been looking at the k02’s and falken and this thread keeps on saying falken is lighter, however all the sites I am finding the 285/75/16 falkens are 61lbs compared to 54 on the ko2’s. Price wise I am finding them to be equal. I feel like that extra 28 lbs is a lot. Thoughts?

Falken are light weight if you get the P rated ones. Are you looking at the E rated?
I wanted more sidewall protection than P can offer so I ended up with 235 85 16 wildpeaks. In that size they are only 1 lb heavier per tire than ko2.

    In 33’s and 16s I’m only seeing e rated (285/75/16)

Then in your shoes I would personally be going ko2's for the weight savings

Not saying that wildpeaks are better than ko2's or vice versa. They are so similar that you could flip a coin. Or, if there is that much weight difference, then weight becomes a deciding factor. IMO

I went k02’s. $750 for a set of 4 compared to $850 for falkens in my case.

I'm looking at these 2 in 32/11.5/r15. Both C rated. Ko2, $212, At3w, $186. Only $100 difference and the wildpeaks are 6 lbs heavier per tire

Im currently running BIg O AT's The old version not the ugly newer version. Id stay all day with these tires but they remade them and they are not the same tire. There are a lot of opinions here and its interesting how so many of them differ. Most seem to like the Falkins. So Im intriuged. However, There is a lot of input concerning the sidewall or Ply of the tire, and most if not all are related to the type of wheeling you're doing for it to matter. Ive noticed on many tires in the past that the thicker or heavier the sidewall or Ply, the better the stability while towing. Thats why I select a heavier sidewall for. Its amazing the difference I feel when towing heavy weight on winding Colorado mountaing driving. I'v also noticed varying opinions with wet traction. There are not a lot of posts with complete information that helps to compare acurately why some do and some do not have good wet traction. If your putting a 285 vs a 265 or smaller tire on, the leverage or gear ratio is way different. I feel you wont slip or spin the tires as much with the larger 285's as you would the 265's due to a different overall gear ratio. My taco lost 30% power when going to the taller tires. Stock tires on a Tacoma scream. Plent of power. Not so much with 285's. A taller tire reduces the averall power getting to the rear tires and can have an effect on the slip. Altitude also makes a difference when comparing these tires. Higher altitudes reduce power. So someone in California vs me here in Colorado on Vail pas will deffinately get different performance or slip on wet surfaces depending on the power you can get to the tires. I think this is why some are amazed when someone says the Falkons were the worst tire they ever had and someone else says the same about the KO2's. Too many variables. I wish we all had the dame data. Clearly both these tires are great. I think it's money that helps some choose and others its wet traction and others something else. I wishI could get the Big O AT's again. I loved these tires. Especially since they had the silica compound in them which is How I landed on them in the first place. They were 285 70 17's and were stable as hell when I towed. I got too much wiggle out of the earlier versions of the BFG's when I towed around winding mountain roads and noticed a MAJOR difference when I switched to an E rated tire of the same size. Its crazy how we all get different results. Also, Im not sure everyone here is putting these tires on the same type of vehicle. Most I assume are Tacomas but some have said different vehicles. Is there a perfect tire? If you say yes then please let me know what it is and Ill buy it. Lots of great info here. Thats why I come here before I spend my money.

I was also trying to decide between falken and ko2 and ultimately went with ko2 because of the weight factor. I’ve been through both snow and rain and been happy with them so far.
