    ahh..got it.

    not sure if it would have worked for you, but i try to make it a habit to let the owner of the stuck car hook up to his own vehicle. i dont want to catch any blame if i break something.

    Presuming you trust them to hook up to something that won’t break off and turn into a missile headed in your direction....

    i would look first. and i always put a ratty blanket on the rope. i've seen a few examples of damage vehicles from a bad hook up.
