Hey man everybody starts somewhere. My stuff is trash compared to what I see people make. I still love making it, my friends love getting it. People are tired of mass produced bullcrap.

Get some edge tape for the edges of the shelves/plywood. Its basically adhesive backed veneer that you iron onto the edges and trim off.

    Truth.
First attempted relief carving of mine years ago(ignore the mess in the background, these were in my bachelor days when I gave zero f**ks about messes and was living with 4 other dudes) 12191EBD-D4E2-4DE2-8F96-00151A850739.jpgA66FA12A-6CAD-49C4-B137-086F88A2979B.jpg

many attempts later. Clearly improvements made, and improvements to be made. (As you can see, background mess improved later in life)C93C3610-8581-41ED-9049-412CDFFD007F.jpg DFA11FD9-C23C-485B-81F2-584FC4E74B52.jpg

    Gotta start somewhere

    Never liked that stuff.
Seems like it peels off eventually. My kids would likely help it along sooner or later too.

Really? I’ve never had any issues, my dads been using it for years too. I guess there must be cheap stuff out there

That handmade touch goes a long way.

    That’s a step beyond anything I’ve done!

last Christmas I made this bookshelf for my son. Now my sister wants me to make 3 for her and her kids! Now that I know how it goes together, I should be able to do all three in less time than my son’s took.

Thank you! I wish I had time to do more in the workshop. It seems I have more into tools than what I would have had to pay for what I’ve made so far!

That is awesome, I really like the design!

it’s all relative also. The timber joinery is definitely big, but it’s surprisingly different from cabinetry like what you made. The spans that we deal with make anything you do wrong compound over those big lengths, but At the same time there is more tolerance than when dealing with a smaller piece that people will have their eyes on up close and personal.

I do those kinds of things in my own spare time, when I’m not at the shop. And carvings and different things like that.
Here’s probably my favorite carving I have done so farB9AD1629-9045-42BE-A3D3-1EFA08867026.jpg

How many of those trusses do you have to make for that project?
