so we have nationwide insurance, got a letter from them today saying that they are ending our insurance with them because i have two speeding tickets the first was 10/08 the second was 10/09. they forgave the one in 2009. but did not say anything about the first one. the letter only states these two tickets, nothing else.

does anyone know why they would be dropping us for just two tickets that are a year apart? (also that happened two years ago) and no one else has gotten any tickets or wrecks or anything.
just really confused on why they would drop us.

    thanks.

Have you claimed anything on insurance? Were you speeding 10+ over the limit?

Since you're 19 with two speeding tickets already they can end your contract because they consider you a risk.

no nothing is claimed. and one was over ten. but it was like 12.
and i was just expecting them to raise my cost.
but any ideas on why they are doing this a year after the last one was given?

Nation Wide insurance Sucks, I had them for my truck and homeowners policies for several years.

They sent out a letter stating that I had too much moss on my roof and had 5 weeks to show them proof that the condition has been or will be corrected.
I was planning on putting on a new roof that summer anyway but decided to bump up the schedule since I had some time off from work.

4 days after the first letter I got a 2nd stating that they are choosing not to renew my homeowners policy when it expires at the end of the year

I immediately moved both my homeowners and auto policies to another company and they called me several times wanting me to renew with them.

I told them to stick it

Yeah...Seems interesting that they forgave your rate increase and then waited over a year to drop you.
But there isn't much you can do about it- and it's not worth fighting with them about it...Find a better company.

seems like a bunch of crap. I would call them up and ask wtf is up. Get USAA! I have been with them since 16. Great rates/customer service and if I recall, they were offering anyone insurance. Usually it is just for military.

and update on the situation, i called nationwide today and after some talking since we have been with them for 29 years without any claims or any other problems they will not be ending our insurance with them, but they said if i get into a wreck or another ticket then they will drop us. so looks like i'll be slowing down :turtleride:

I would say fuck them. Even though they decided not to drop you, I still wouldn't want to deal with a company like that.

Yea, I would leave them in a heartbeat. I just switched from Allstate to Liberty Mutual. Actually saving around 40%. Not sure when Allstate got so high cause I checked around about 2-3 years ago and they were still the cheapest for me.

On a side note, I see you have a 2011 truck. Maybe you were sorta flying under the radar until they had to amend your policy for your new truck. I have no idea if it's accurate but it could be the case.

That happened to me when I was 18 or 19 yo. I was still iving at home on my parents insurance, and I bought a new car. I was considered "high risk" cause I had a few speeding tickets myself. I was ok untill I got a brand new car and tried to insure it with them, they said nope! Then I had to switch to my own and I was paying out the ass cause it was a co that delt with "high risk". Sucked.

If your family has had their policies with them for 29 years, You should deal with your local agent and not the 800 number.

If the agent doesn't help you out, time for the family to find a new agent.

I didn't get a rate change or ticket, but a few years ago the customer service of my agent of 7 years went to crap; found a new one immediately after a few issues that should have been handled better. Insurance is one thing, but having a good agent that is fighting for you makes a world of difference.

I also have USAA and agree that they are the best provider out there. They still only offer insurance for military though, not for everyone, that hasn't changed.

yeah i was afraid i would have to end up paying the high risk factor and also being dropped normally adds some extra change too.

yeah i called my our familys agent, i think thats why they made the choice to give a second chance.

You get what you pay for with insurance. I have State Farm until I get a better job...then it's Amica, Cincinnati or Chubb. USAA used to be good...but I've been unimpressed lately with how they handle their homeowners claims.
