    Hello,
I would like to present a scenario to explain my issue:
If I was on I-70 from Green River to Salina, there are no stops for at least 105 miles.

If I got out onto the side of the road for any reason, locked my truck with the key fob, and if that fob were to die from the battery or if I were to fall and break it. The 2010 V4 Manual Transmission Tacoma does not allow the engine to start, with the ignition key, without the fob unlocking the door.

I can't express how much I dislike this feature, is there a way to disable all fobs and only allow the physical key to start the truck? (I also want to add there is no "push button" start, there is a physical key and my truck requires clutch start, the fob however has to be used to unlock the door for the truck to start. No matter how far away the fob is from the truck, I can not start the truck without the fob unlocking the doors first).

I was wondering if there is an electrical component such as removing a fuse from the fuse box to resolve my issue.

However, my gut is telling me it's a programming component to disable the fob or re-write it; which is taking similar steps to program a fob which is found here:

    https://www.carandtruckremotes.com/...eplacement-keyless-entry-control-remotes.html

Personally, I just want the FOB function disabled or removed, I'm thinking my last option is to take it to a Toyota shop and pay alot of money for them to disable the feature.

Any help is appreciated before I have to take it to a dealership

Thank you but I added to this post based on your statement. Doesnt matter how far away the fob is, the physical key does not unlock the driver side door and if I get in through the passenger side door, the truck will not start. I only posted here based on the other poster telling me to go to Gen 2 forum. Believe me, I've done all basic trouble shooting I could think of with no solution. Not having the fob near me, not being around any electronics or other possible signals is the first step I took. Then I looked into reprogramming other fobs or cancelling out programming to all fobs, still no success.

The key will not unlock the door?

Not the driver side door. It's very distinct tactile feeling that an electronic component is pushing against the key unlocking the door. I'm technical but not good with cars/trucks, I don't know if it's the solenoid causing issues or what but it builds on my issue. The physical key does not open the driver door without the fob, the physical key opens the passenger door but when I do that, the hazards go off as if I'm stealing my own truck.

This isn’t probably the answer you want to hear.
But fixing the Drivers side lock is probably your better option.

I’m not 100% on the workings of the immobilizer.
However, the Unlock warning switch and Drivers Door switch both signal the Immobilizer ECU.
This leads me to believe, the drivers door has to be unlocked and opened to start the truck.

I can’t say I’ve ever enter my passenger door and tried to start the truck.
I honestly doesn’t even know if my actual keyed door lock works.
I haven’t used it in YEARS.

Maybe @Muddinfun knows a hack or work around?
As for me, I think it’d be easier to fix the door lock?

Again, I don’t think the fob has anything at all with the truck starting.
It’s all in the key and input signals to the ECU.
Maybe I’m wrong. If I am Muddin will let me know.

    1st. There is no such thing as a V4 Taco. It’s either a I4 or a V6. That’s important.

2nd. When it won’t start, what does it do? Does the starter crank gleefully, or do you just get a click, or is it silent.

I very strongly suspect you have a very poorly installed aftermarket alarm system with a starter disable.

It is an I4. When I use the physical key without the fob it doesnt do anything, doesnt crank, all of the lights on the dash come on but it's silent.

As I suspected, aftermarket alarm with starter disable. @TnShooter Did the I4 trucks come available with keyless entry? I’m guessing that the whole works is aftermarket.

What do you make of this @Muddinfun
You see the Door switch is linked to Immobilizer?

You know what, the door switch may only be for the Time out feature.
My truck will lock the doors on its own IF you do not open the door in a certain amount of time AFTER using the key fob.

    Anyway, OP.
Post pics of the Fob. That will help.

The FOB I received was from the dealership. It's an Avital: FCC ID EZSDEI474S; RPN 473L; 266 CODES; BATTERY CR2032

Thanks fellas for all your help. So last question is how do I go about removing an aftermarket alarm system with starter disable? Is that doable as a DIY or does it have to go to the dealership?

I wouldn’t want to try it myself.
I’d contact an installer and go from there.

Do not go to the dealer. You should never go to the dealer. Why do people think the dealer is the best place to go for service?

We don’t know your electrical abilities. The only slightly difficult part is finding the 2 factory wires that are connected to an aftermarket relay and solder/heatshrink them together. Everything else is just yanking shit out.
