Hey TW!! I am in the market for a new laptop but I'm not a computer wizz by any means. I know its Cyber Monday and I have been looking at some websites like DELL, HP, BestBuy and a couple others. I was thinking of buying one today cause of all the sales and free shipping but I would like some input from people that have good knowledge of laptop computers. I dont need anything crazy at all, just something for e-mails, web browsing and possibly some first-person video games. A HD LED screen and Blu-Ray player is preferred as well. I'm looking at a price range of $300-$650ish tops, including taxes and shipping. Possibly up to $700 if need be but that would be my max. So any help is much appreciated!!:)

Any examples of what you've looked at so far? It'd be a lot easier to help you pick one out of a handful if you have narrowed some down already.

Save yourself some trouble and buy a MacBook or the like. It'll last longer than you!! You wont need a new laptop for the next decade. Yes they are expensive but u won't run into any problems what so ever. And if you don't like the operating system you can always run Vista on it!!
    Mac FTW!!

MacBook's are nice, but so not worth the money. I'm also a big fan of HP's, I have a DV4 series and love it.

Buying direct from the manufacturer's site is nice because you can customize, but you can usually get a much better deal from a retailer like Staples, Office Max/Depot, etc.

True, but I got a dell a few years ago and had a bunch of problems with it and ended up ditching it for a Mac. I have had zero problems with it and won't need a new one for a looooong time. I wished I had spent the extra money on the Mac the first time. Might be worth it to spend the extra cash up front so you don't regret it later. But you don't wanna spend all your money on computers, your truck would get jealous. Good luck on the hunt!

Thanks for everyones help that was on here!!:D Well I bit the bullet and just bought me the HP G62t series laptop. The price seemed very reasonable and the reviews all sounded really good! It came with a couple free upgrades on the memory and hard drive if you look down the spec list. After taxes and 2nd day air shipping, it cost me about $460 total. I dont think thats to bad for my first laptop!!:)
