@disconnected, go with those if you feel they are best. Also, if you got tire chains then you could get into some extreme places.

I got the KO2 tires Because they are an all around tire. They are mid to high in all categories, but not best. The advantage is they have a much more aggressive tread than most other tires, so they will get you out of very tricky situations. I’m talking tires sunken down to axles, extreme scenario. The 10 ply is an added bonus for hauling and going places that might have debris that could slide through. This being said, the mud terrains would be better for mud because these fill up With mud right away And become useless, and snow tires would have the lead in snow. It’s a rabbit hole!

One last thing is tires are expensive, and I always felt I got my money’s worth with the KO2s, and haven’t found that with other suv and small truck tires which have gotten out of round at 40k but still have tread.

Gas mileage may not suffer if you can find the posted tire weight

Look into yokohama geolander go15 as well. I put them on my wife's suv last year. Very happy, they will be going on my DD as well. I think @TwistedTLM4 is running them on trails if I recall. Maybe he can chime in with real world thoughts.

you wont notice any difference. i litterally sat down one time and calculated the difference and it came out to 7 miles a tank. no issues here. you may however have to remove your front guards under your wheel well. mine rubbed when cut fully and backing up.

Is removing front mud flaps needed? Im wanting to retain those, especially for winter months.

negative. My brother is running the ko2s on his with stock flaps. That’s said if you get a tire that doesn’t have the square sidewall it may not rub when backing up.

I will highly advise if you do any wheeling remove those flaps. They cause a TON of damage when they get ripped off....hence why I now have bushwackers on my taco

Wheel specs can make a big difference for rubbing.

10-4. Im still not sure which way to go yet. If I did more wheeling then yes i would definitely remove them. But I guess if an opportunity came up for more serious off roading, i would just take em off for the time being.

My suggestion is to at least trim them....I ripped mine off backing over a wood pile in my yard. Since they are attached to your fender flare they will rip the plastic clips off and render it non attachable again. 1 OEM unpainted flare is 400 beans.

I made it back. We worked our asses off and wore ourselves thin to be able to have some fun also. We spent one night waay out in one of the Bureau of Land Management areas in New Mexico camping with friends. True overlanding 3 hours into the desert.

So are we on for this Sunday?

My lady will be working which sucks a little but whatever, and I’m going wheeling. @disconnected are you coming along? You have any places in mind?

@MagtechPA you want to join in my Taco?

Im kind of wanting to check out Casperas which is some serious mountain roads starting from South Connellsville and heads up towards Rt. 711 or south toward more mountains. I’ve never ventured too far but it’s on the table. It’s gnarly roads, but nothing a stock Tacoma can’t handle with good spotting. Anyone have any good mapping programs to recommend in order order to see where these logging trails lead to?google isn’t the greatest for that area.

Well I guess I'm driving over to Sandy Flat Rd then and trailing it back a few to see if there's a gate just to know for the future...

This road is marked negative and heard stories of steep fines around here. D2B00A61-376E-4FBC-BBAB-A802CF72AD06.jpg

The second entrance is really thin. Definitely a pinstripe guarantee.
