37 at the house this morning, supposed to rain later. We're inching towards woodstove weather, but unless we get a few cold rainy days in a row it'll probably be after Halloween before I need to fire up the cellar monster. Right now we're just kicking the pellet stove on for 30 minutes or so in the mornings to take the chill off.

I'd like a diesel for the hauling potential and the resale, but honestly a modern gasser works nearly as well for what I'm doing. At some point I'll upgrade to a dedicated 'work' truck and just have a knockaround beater car for the rest of the time, and that truck will probably be a 1-ton diesel.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I hope for your sake , you are digging through that with a tractor/loader and not just a chainsaw. Dozer piles can be very dangerous with their hidden binds/twists and buckles. A hidden bind on a branch of just 1-2 inchs can hit you in the face very quickly. Also if and when you get it untangled and pulled apart - you usually have dirt all over your wood --bad on chain life.
Take the extra tine to be careful!!

How does one install washer fluid in a tire? Looks a bit time consuming!

A friend of mine has a sump pump, will use a bucket and get my kids to help pour it in. I have an adapter that fits the hose and the valve stem for adding liquid.

Here’s the fitting that connects to the hose and valve stem. The little thing on the side is to let the air out as the liquid goes in.

That's way more high-tech than the system we used to fill the rears on my dad's tractor when we replaced them. We just screwed an adapter onto the jug of washer fluid, ran a rubber tube from the adapter to the valve stem, turned the jug over, and stuck a football needle on a compressor into the bottom of the jug. Emptied each jug in like 10-15 seconds that way.

Did they at least give you a discount for buying in bulk?

Started off my morning with filling in some holes with the dirt brother joe brought home. Then did some fishing. No catches but missed 2! Took me into the Lilly pads and was unable to bring then in. Split some wood and stacked . The first pic is the view from the wood pile to the house. Gorgeous day it was4D4B02B0-43A1-4F46-967E-D5FAD7E51A69.jpg 3B9D77DE-E6E6-4EA0-8713-E49C57F6B0B8.jpg A3928B56-273E-429C-A41E-F4513E0AC149.jpg AF868310-385E-4998-BBF8-5AAD9AAE1AB3.jpg 941D12AB-B48F-4F70-B53A-D140093B4593.jpg

Swapped out the mower for the backhoe yesterday on my Kubota GL3130. Did some pond cleanup.
My naive 85yr old Dad has a neighbor who spends Winter in Florida. We live in Indiana. Two years ago he brought back a plant and asked my Dad to let him put it in his pond to "see if it can survive the Winter". Well, two years later, it had already covered about 10% of the pond. Luckily, it was a near bank dweller, and I could still reach it and pull it our from the bank.

I have a Taylor-Way (Italian) backhoe attachment. I had always heard it is risky to use 3-point backhoes on Kubota tractors due to brittle steel having been used in the rear diff housings. I got lucky and found a subframe. It extends from the backhoe to about middle of the tractor (visible in 1st pic, just below foot position). All I had to do was make a right angle bracket with some bolt holes to attach to the subframe. I have gotten a lot of usage from it.

The gray is a hair like root mass floating beneath the plants. Looks like what comes out of the shower drain when clogged!

    upload_2020-10-14_20-58-5.jpg

Pulled about 10 piles like these from the water. It's like green spaghetti.

    upload_2020-10-14_20-59-20.jpg

DON'T EVER RELOCATE PLANTS FROM FLORIDA TO ANY OTHER PART OF THE US!
