What is "nuts" is some people in California willing to pay those inflated prices. There are some who are willing to pay for dealer added line items like "market adjustment". When I see that on the window sticker I walk out. Even when I had to get a vehicle due to the one I had was totaled I was not willing to be taken by a dealer. Way to many choices out there as far as vehicles.

Around Colorado they're crazy expensive. I had been looking for a 2015 for the longest time and they were selling for $30000 or higher with over 80K miles on them. Most of the 2018-2019 with 30k+ miles were selling for only a couple thousand cheaper than the brand new 2020s. That's why I ended up just getting a brand new one...plus the carplay and adjustable seat helped that decision a little bit....

If only it were like a house and you could look up what these trucks are actually selling for.

Maybe I should just sell mine and wait for the market to go back to normal

Talked to a guy in a parking lot that bought a used 4 cycl for $32,000. From what I could tell, the only thing unique was a flat black paint job (maybe plastidip), 33s and junky lift.

Never underestimate what someone is willing to pay for something

Re sale is really crazy right now but if you wait you can find the right deal. I searched for about 2 months and I just picked up a 2018 access cab trd off road for $31,500 otd plus tax tag and title. It had 8500 miles on it and an ARE camper shell. They were asking $34,900 for and I offered $30k and we worked out a deal at $31,500. It was the last couple days of the month not sure if that played a factor. And maybe access cabs are less desirable not sure but it was what I was looking for.

I recently bought a used 2017 Off-Road with 55k miles for $30k and I thought that was a steal but I had posted to TW before buying it and people said that was still a great resale value. In my search for the perfect Taco I came across a 1995 Taco with over 300,000 miles on it and they were asking $9,995 for it and it was marked as "sale pending" which I thought was insane. Maybe people are going for the collector vehicle at that point... Anyway, not something to be mad about at all, let's hope it stays that way, even though I don't ever plan to sell mine :)

I think yours still is a decent deal there are plenty around with the same miles as yours And they are asking mid $30’s I think I just finally got lucky with the low miles after looking for a while

I turned down an offer from Carvana for $35,884 a few months back, and turned down 35k cash offer from a local dealer just a few weeks back. Crazy the prices these trucks are pulling in the market, and if you dont need a second vehicle it might be a good idea to unload it while the goings good - however what I think a lot of people are missing here is that if you sell to carvana and or cash out from a dealer without buying something else, now you've just lost all your taxes/licenses paid and any tax credit you might've gotten off the new one and will have to pay those again when you go to buy a new truck. When I took a hard look at the numbers, even at that highest rate from Carvana, I'd still have to pony up almost 3k in extra taxes/fees/cost of a new one. To some maybe that is worth it, but not to me.

I'm super happy with what I found because I had started to worry that I wouldn't find what I was looking for. I wasn't going to settle for anything unless it was a manual and those make up less than 2% of what's available, so I feel like I got real lucky. Granted, I had to drive 17 hours to bring it home, but still worth it.
