haha no, this is tedious design work they have me do when they're designers are overloaded.

As far as the camera goes they just think my friend couldn't figure out how to work it. And technically that's true, because the only way any of them can use it is if I leave everything set up so all they have to do is press the button. But if I change the exposure settings, lock the shutter so it won't sync with strobe, blow out the ISO settings, adjust the strobe lights, change the channels on the camera/strobe transmitters, disable auto focus, reformat the memory cards to not work with Canon ...there are a hundred different ways I can sabotage the studio when I'm not around

I rotate different methods each week to keep it fresh

Bear in mind, this company is full of people that can't update the OS on their computer without IT's help, much less figure out how camera/lighting equipment works

One of the other designers got mad at me for not making files that were "compatible" with her computer, turns out she's using a version of Illustrator from 2015

What kind of studio do you work at? I used to work at a portrait/family photos studio back in college. There was one 'IT person' who was actually hired to edit photos in bulk and he was the only person who knew how anything network related worked. Disaster waiting to happen

I work in the in-house photo studio for a major women's clothing brand, the first few years I was part of the e-Commerce team and did all the product, website, social media, email, digital ad and print ad photos for the brand. A couple years ago they did away with their e-commerce department and focus solely on wholesale now, which made the photo part of my job WAYYY easier but put me in more of a universal role because they let everyone go but me. I still do product photos for wholesale clients but also have to maintain our buyer to buyer website, send files to buyers, upload product to Amazon and what not, etc

Along with a bunch of other random stuff that gets thrown my way, one of these days I need to figure out how to appropriately label it all so I can make it look good on a resume.

Yeah I'm pretty much that 'one guy' here lol. But the company has been hurting all year from Covid, wholesale sales dried up big time especially in the beginning of it all when international shipping ceased. It's slowly coming around but now it's the end of the year and the higher ups are all freaking out about making numbers look good. So they cut my schedule to part time. That's the nutshell of it anyway.

There's a lot of office politics involved too but I won't get into all that lol.

Sounds like a good gig. The part I hated most was posing people. Taking pictures of products and just dealing with computers sounds ideal to me haha. But that's probably why I'm a sw engineer now.

Yeah the first few years was all model photos for the most part. A lot more creativity involved when we had an e-commerce direct to consumer brand.

Now that it's wholesale it's all pretty sterile and boring lol.
