I have been looking at that also. I think I am doing okay, esp with the switch to 87. Down about 1mph with the editing and octane change? I will have a fill up soon to track.

Yeah the flashes during a tank throw off the accuracy I think

absolutely, thats why i put -10 back into the first column on my newest one.

The smooth transition down to the 700 mark was to alleviate the engine braking early, in a more controlled manner so that the jerk when DFCO lets loose was less noticeable. It worked.

A lot LOT of this is personal preference. But ive found that once you adjust the other tables to get the smoother/acceleration you want, the only thing left to do is tailor the primary table to your liking.

My big reason for making the 1st gear map linear was to take those out of the calculation. If my Request to airload is linear, and my 1st gear is linear, then the PTT is all i need to adjust.

The numbers in the PTT, in the lower RPM range, they dont affect much, larger changes dont seem to take major effect. In the higher rpm though, where the torque request is higher, small changes (even 1) make large differences.

@tonered did you do the first gear map as well? or just the PTT map? Glad you liked it though. I couldnt help wondering why toyota would want the throttle to close some as RPM increases...that made no sense to me. If i want my throttle to close, ill close the damn thing.

A bit, esp with the settling. Those first few edit tries tanked me a bit. Worth it though, and more. I really want to get a few tanks in though. Dammit!

Yes. I did not touch PTTT1G yet. I was worried because I wrapped in three map changes last night and thought I might mess up the tip in.

I like your progression there. It makes sense.

So i updated picture 3 in this post but will put it here as well.

Since i cant change my maps right now i logged them. Im on day 3 of the current setup and although i will change the beginning of the map, this one is by far the best, smoothest power delivery yet.

I have gotten used to having to put a little more throttle into take off and its not a huge ordeal.

here is the new throttle plate log with engine rpm, you will notice it is very smooth, with minimal jumps and dips. but my biggest thing. look at that RPM curve, its not jerky, its smooooooooth.

    smooththrottle.jpg

This is a severe close up of the throttle, way less jumps and dips than ive seen in any of my logs yet.

the beggining of this photo is my throttle modulation taking off from a stop in first gear. then a steady increase as i accelerated, i think the initial bumpiness is actually from the road i was on causing my foot to bounce on the pedal a bit.

That smooth throttle plate log is what really spoke to me, esp with your 'before' condition of a schizo situation.

another part of the log. beginning is a cruise in 5th gear, then moving to a stop.

i went first to 4k and 2nd to 5k rpms then third for a moment before having to let off.

Do you notice anything with the throttle position and rpms in this log?

I'm seeing the TB snapping shut, or as shut as it going to go.

The increases are almost linear also, esp 2nd gear. I think that contributes to the smooth feeling.

BTW, did you hear anything back on the tune file that you submitted?

I didnt hear anything in the email, but he did respond with the torque limit thing so i think it was in response to that.

And i havent had a lot of time to test it yet, but i feel like there has been a difference in the hanging of the revs.

ill do some more full pulls tomorrow and see. but so far it has felt better.

It sounds like it solved your problem. So, that is good and decent correlation.

Same here. The one drive was really nice though. Getting close to the second one. Haha!

Yeah the response he gave me pushed me to try the linear stuff. after he said is was torque limiting i looked back at the throttle request to airload, like i said before, it seemed speed and or rpm dependent.

the map on that one had a dip right in the middle, kinda matched the logs i had. so i CTRL A CTRL I and loaded. hell i named the file "whynottry"

as for rev hang, im not getting my hopes up, just noticed the last two days that i havent noticed it. (maybe im just numb)

whynottry was how I felt last night. Poke and hope!

I swear that Rev Hang comes and goes. The unpredictable nature is as bad as anything else.

i hear that, i have found situations that i can replicate it.

uphill, 2nd gear, punch the throttle for a few moments and get some momentum, then let off.

it will almost always hang in that situation

here is a shot of the CSV (if you use matts logger you will see how fast it logs stuff)

Left RPM, Middle Speed KPH, Right Throttle Angle

according to this, it hung at 59 for a moment, but given that this is a motor driven thing, it has to stop and then reverse

Yes. The logger rate is very fast. That is a quick TB closing.

    I need a drive!

    Tony are you married?

Does your wife look at you every time you are on the computer and say

"Doing that truck thing again????? You're gonna break it."

Yes, I am. She knew that I had a few wires loose before going all in.

But, yeah. She laughs every time I say that I am testing a new tune. Not to mention the meetups to flash folks.

Of course, nothing stays stock. Everything is a blank pallet that needs to be modded in some fashion. I do get in trouble when I mess with her stuff, like when I debadged the Subaru. I am still catching heat for that.

Just click and drag like in a spreadsheet.

The CTRL + I smoothing will use the values on the border of the selection to smooth. Nothing on the interior is considered.

Wholy-o-fuck. I'm done editing for a while. I got in a normal drive home but in heavy headwinds and a nice drive to pick up my daughter. The linear throttle is for real. If anything, I could see going CTRL + I on the entire PTTT map with the -5 starting value.

Normal or aggressive town driving is spot on. Highway, I am still adapting. Mainly to getting just a touch deeper (deliberate) into the throttle.

Why did Toyota waste time and effort on the complex map shapes when a flat damn plane is the friggin' key to success? K.I.S.S! That last S is pertinent in this case.

Oops! I put a missing 'how' in your post. My apologies!

Yes! See the PTTT thread, V2 info. There are two CTRL + Is in there.
