Sorry for the off topic question. I've flashed my truck multiple times with no issues but I've never unplugged my battery since flashing. If I unplug my battery will I lose my most recent flash?

So I flashed my 2020 manual to SFOB Premium tune today. I must say, first gear pulls like crazy and I can feel lots of low-end torque in third now. Second feels a bit gutless though oddly enough. Am I just used to the prior 3.5k powerband, or is second just so smooth now that it doesn’t feel as powerful?

I’m sure I need to get used to it. I only drove about 20 miles on it to work and back. Overall it rains great though. Gotta keep my foot out of it.

Loving the 93 FOB on my '20 Tacoma! It's been great so far and I am seeing lot better MPG right now. I did 22MPG on 300 miles road trip!

I have about 400 miles on my 2020 OR and am seriously considering this tune as my first major mod to the truck. Can someone give me (in layman's terms) what the primary benefits are to running this tune so I can justify it to my wife? Post #1 all seems important, but I just want to be sure that I understand it. I really only have two annoyances right now -
    1. Clunky shifting (if I don't rev match perfectly it's not a smooth shift. I know this is a truck and will drive like a truck, but my '92 F250 shifts much, much smoother with less precision)
    2. There is virtually no power under 3k RPMs (I understand that's how this truck was designed, but it'd be nice if the powerband was at least a little more linear. I'm not looking for a racecar, but a little more accel in the lower RPMs would be nice). From what I've read, it certainly seems like the tune should address both of those issues to some extent.

I'd probably run the SFOB tune as it sounds like running the higher octane improves MPGs slightly while offering noticeable performance gains. The minor gains in MPGs may offset the higher fuel costs or net a small loss in fuels costs which would be worth for performance gains, imo.

    From Post #1:

    - Drive By Wire Throttle maps = Enhanced Throttle angle targets (base) - Improves how much you have to press the gas pedal?
    - Gear Dependent Driver Demand Torque = Tailored Throttle response by gear - Improves how quickly after pressing the gas the truck actually moves
    - Torque Control = Finely adjusts the stock Torque request maps - Changes where in the RPM band the truck produces torque (ie you'll have power under 3k)
    - Exhaust and Intake Valve VVT = Smoother power delivery, more power, more torque - results in a more linear powerband rather than the slog to 3k then rocketship
    - Power Enrichment AF Target = Adjusted Full throttle demand AF to be target from 12.7-12.4 vs stock 11.9x - 10.0 - I have no idea
    - Ignition timing - Ignition timing calibrated for better efficiency on higher octane fuel - improves MPGs when using 93 octane?
    - Base D.I. Fire calculation WOT = Adjusted Base D.I. Fire calculation during high load ( smoother WOT fuel transition than stock where it just dumps rich) - not sure

    ADM fixes issue 1
    Tune fixes issue 2

I highly recommend both. Makes this truck what it should be from the factory.

Thank you for the short and clear response. Plan on doing the ADM later this week and will probably drive it a bit like that and see how it feels, then go the tune route if I feel like I'd like more. Thanks!

Do you all know if the FOB tunes change the automatic valve cleaning in any way?

Looking for some suggestions - my OvTune obd 2 adapter and usb cable were stolen from my truck with an old cellphone and a garmin inreach. Got the inreach back because they chucked it after turning it on.. wondering what I should do about the OVTune problem
As I just have spent over $600 bucks less than a year ago. I still have the software, haven’t updated to vftune yet.. are other tactrix adapters and usb cables compatible with the software? Anyone selling one?

    That sucks.

You can use any Tactrix, or get another from OVT. The license is not tied to the adapter.

Folks are listing them. Just got to keep any eye out.

So i flashed my ECU with SFOB few days ago. Running E0 91.

HUGE thanks to @tonered for answering a million questions and helping me through the install and flash process. Also big thanks to @Shellshock for helping me find OVtune email in my spam folder:facepalm:And of course thanks to @OVTune as well for making such great tunes!

So far i really like it, only drove about 50km (30miles?)First is absolutely nuts! haha! Im still getting used to the sensitive throttle pedal. The low end torque is much better, takes much less pedal input to get her moving. Also the top end is noticeably better. The truck jerks a bit here and there at times but thats because we are both still learning :) I have work van during the week and usually i drive my truck on weekends only :(

I cant wait to drive her again and I will report back once I go through at least 1 tank, which could be a couple of weeks. If anyone is on the fence(like i was for a while) Do IT! It really wakes up the 3.5. I have 1 more tune to try later on, the Premium Base OL tune.

Thanks again guys and this thread has been awesome, I learned a lot!

Yup. When you get all the torques and an MPG bump, why not? :D

Yeah thats true. I will try the 2.0 Premium Base at some point, but im liking this SFOB too much right now :) I noticed the RPMs drop a bit quicker when shifting around 2300-2600, need to get used to shifting a a bit faster. Did you notice similar thing when you went to SFOB? Im guessing OVtune improved the Rev hang a bit? Its still there at higher rpms though, pretty annoying but oh well this tune is a huge improvement over stock. I am excited to to see how the fuel economy will be next tank.
