There is a rod connected on one end to the master cylinder and on the other end to the clutch pedal arm. I lube the rod itself where it passes into the master cylinder boot with silglide. The other end terminates in a socket, and I lube that end with silglide or teflon grease. In spite of this, after a few days, the pedal squeak returns and is somewhat stiffer to operate. I must be doing something wrong, and could use some guidance from someone more knowledgeable

There's a TSB that replaces the whole pedal assembly to fix it. There's nothing that fixes it except replacing the pedal.

Search the forum and you'll find there is a large thread on this issue. There was a TSB. I'm guessing you're not the original owner, or you would have seen the TSB. The sound is the issue; there doesn't appear to be a mechanical failure associated with the squeak.

A shot of silicone spray from time to time for me.

If you put to much lube on it you can have it soak the electronics and your clutch will quit working. I know because I did

I'm the original owner of my 2008 Tacoma, and I never received the TSB. My clutch pedal has squeaked periodically since it was new. It definitely "comes and goes." No idea if they checked this when it was in the shop, and it didn't squeak at the time, but I don't remember ever being notified about this.

I'm the second owner. First owner never said anything when I chatted with him after he turned the car in to a dealer. He might not have heard it because of age. I've had the same experience as you--comes and goes. Doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it.

My 2013 does this. I believe the original owner did the TSB, I’ve tried grease, but as others have mentioned it comes and goes and I can’t pinpoint what makes it disappear and re appear. It used to bug me A LOT. But now it bugs me a little less and I live with it. Mainly because I don’t know how to take apart the whole assembly and don’t want to deal with it or pay somebody to look at it when it’s just a noise and not anything mechanically detrimental to the vehicle

OK. Thanks for the information. My Tacoma is a 2014, so I may have a difficult time with warranty.
