First, I cannot stand the dealer who services my truck, but only one within ~30 miles.

I have it there for the frame issue, but they will not coat it because they claim my 2017 already has a wax type coating inside the frame direct from Toyota and only want to plug the frame?

Is this typical dealer BS or it true.

    Thank you,

Let them plug the frame, then take it home and fluid film it yourself. Dealer doesn't care about your truck like you do. Get it in writing that it was coated from the factory so your frame warranty is valid.

    Bump...

Does anyone know about this "wax" coating on the interior of the frame? I sim[ply do not trust dealers and very rarely ever go unless a Recall or Toyota issue. Thank you in advance.

All that I can tell you is that the TSBs existing for the 2017s on the nhtsa site. I am not subject to this work given my location, but my Taco has the frame plugs:

I had mine done by the dealer. They checked the frame for certain missing plugs (intentionally not put in at the factory). Mine was without the plugs and was coated inside the frame with a waxy coating and plugged. Some trucks already have the plugs and they do nothing.

Hi all, that you for the responses. I guess the waxy coating is in the frame and I just needed a few plugs. As mentioned above, I will coat it myself living in NH does wonder to frames and steel in general.

My 2017 Sport definitely didn't have any "waxy coating" on any part of the frame, inside or out, before I hit it with Fluid Film.
    Dealer is full of poo.

I had to order my 2020 access cab. Upon receiving the truck i didn't see any type of waxy coating in, or out of the frame on this truck....just the plugs, and a lot of black chassis paint covering the frame. I took it upon myself to cosmoilne it after seeing pics of 3-4 year taco's on this site.

This is the only reason I'm bringing mine in. I know my FF fogging in the box section is at least as good as whatever goo Toyota wants to use. If they want to spray my truck, fine, but I'm going to reapply FF myself. I just want the paperwork in case something happens since I plan on getting 15-20 years out of this thing, kicking and/or screaming.

So the dealer put in-writing that they plugged the holes, but not anything about the wax coating inside the frame. As mentioned, I will get or do my own coating and simply (hopefully) never have to use the dealer again. They suck and I gently them of the crooks of this fact when the try to get me to trade in for a new truck.

You may also want to get it in writing that they feel they did what was necessary according to the TSB so that additional frame warranty is intact.
