That is just the bar, doesn’t include my XL80/S1 ditch light setup.

pattern is driving combo so 2 diffused and 4 clear on each 10” section. It’s equivalent to (2) XL racers and (4) XL80s.

The amount of light it puts out is truly ridiculous, theres light everywhere from the tree tops to the woods beside me. It makes my ditch light setup pretty useless.

I'd keep them, but looks like they are too big to fit on the next bumper I plan to buy, for the next vehicle...Probably gonna go with some LP6's instead.

Even @memario1214 can't touch that price for the LP9's!

Partially finished an overland trailer build and took it out for an overnight. Now to work on the electrical. First order of business is the four foot slide out kitchen paired with lights. We learned a few things on this trip on where and what would make an ideal light setup. We might go with BD Lights, but all the wiring and switches will be custom.

Just for the fun of it, what lights would you seriously consider if you were in the middle of an overland build?

Self adhesive exterior rgb led light strips placed under the edge of tent all the way around connected to a controller with remote, any color you want and plenty of light all the way around. Then you can add a couple of good lights for all around your camp.

I have two questions about your setup.

1 - what combo do you find you actually use the most for cruising on open remote highways (60mph+)?
2 - With the bars do you feel limited by the aim or throw when it comes to lighting the road?

Hey guys, the housing for these squadron lights has faded. Have had these for about a year. Is this normal?? Can’t help but notice it every time I look at the truck.

    1) Well I live near DC so it's rare that I'm on a remote highway unless I'm going somewhere to get out of town. I constantly have to worry about other vehicles so because of that I split my ditch lights onto two switches. I can use my passenger side XL80 ditch light without blinding oncoming traffic on a divided highway and it lets me look for deer on that side of the truck.

If there is really no traffic then I use my roof lights when there are no roadsigns (my roof lights are so bright that roadsigns blind the shit out of me). If there are roadsigns then I use my S8 and ONX6+ bar.

    2) I'm not a good one to answer that question because I have 360° of lights and all I need to do is flip a switch to make daylight on whatever side I need.

My observations in regards to your setup....have you thought about buying two S1 lasers for that longer distance that you're looking for? The S1S is the smallest and easiest light to find a spot for. You could keep everything else amber like you want and only use the lasers for the very long distance that you need.

Hadn't thought about it, but it is an idea. Trying not too add "too many" lights :) (did you use a switch-Pro or what? Now that I've wired up 4 separate sets of lights/switches, I clearly see the value of something like it!). I mocked up some Lp4's today (cardboard) and I think the 20" ONX6+ will work better (If I was able to do a brushguard the LP4's would be fine, but with the parking sensors in my bumper the brushguard is a no-go. The 3 Lp4's are just an eye sore protruding from the bumper step - and I'm about form and function). I'm hoping the (4) racer LEDs in the 20" (vs the 2 in the 10") get the job done on the far end "good enough". I don't need to been seen from outer space :).

Actually, I'm hoping the 10" with the clear lens will get the job done :). I might go with the 20" anyway, because "more is better" and I could keep it amber and still be satisfied with the output (+ I think it would look cool). My 10" clear lens should be here Wed so by the weekend I'll have a better idea of where I'm at.

I know I did some testing the other night I was surprised that even with the 10" ONX6+ (amber) on high I could still see my high beams make an obvious, but not huge, difference when I turned them on and off. I do have the Xenon headlight option so they are good lights. I have tried aiming the bar upwards just to make sure it is aimed high enough for distance. I basically aim it high enough to hit the upper part of the farthest trees and then bring it down just until I feel the brightest area is at the base and lower level of the most distant trees.

Here's a shot. On the whole it's slightly under exposed because to the eye I could see way more brightness on the upper parts of the tress and the distant areas were brighter too. However it is a good representation of the intensity one to the other (though as I said both are slightly under exposed - dark - vs real life). I used a tripod and Manual setting locked in to make sure the camera didn't do any compensations or change anything as the light levels changed. There is a hillcrest then more road. You can see there is a just a little more light where the road rises again and on the tree to the right where the road falls away. Fact is it's (way) darker out there with just the highbeams alone. Overall all of this has been a major improvement vs stock, and I'm real happy about the upgrade. I'm just a dude that once I get onto something I like to dial it in and make the most of it.

I don’t know that S1 lasers are the answer for him. He’s happy with his current distance he just wants more down there. The lasers will project much further but especially in an S1 it’s going to be an incredibly focused area of lighting (small area).

A 20” onx6 should theoretically be twice the light over all areas including distance. I believe a clear 20” will make you a lot happier. I also don’t think not being able to point the light bar to the sides is a “disadvantage”. There’s usually enough output or supplemental lighting that it’s not an issue.

    This for sure ^^

I can hardly wait for the clear lens on the 10" - but I suspect I'll end up with the 20" one way or another.

Another great morning for a 75 mile drive with the 40” hi power keeping me company. Probably going 75mph in the picture. With just the headlights on I couldn’t even see it was raining.
