Actually, the entire bumper aside from the recovery points will be 1/4"... however there will be a few braces/gussets in key areas. I will make sure it can take the load of winching before I ship any, and I have no doubt that it can handle it while still being 1/4". I had an all 1/4" aluminum bumper in the past, and I regularly used a 9500lb warn for recovery of myself and other, as well as tugging on the recovery points and I never had any issues in the 2 years it was on my truck. The current bumper is a better design from the get-go, so it should work great with only minor modifications to the regular design. :)
    :)
haha yeah... maybe some clarification to what this means would help... lol
No problem Shawn. Glad we could get things worked out.

Well, you sure know a lot more about it than I do, and I get that proper design and load management beats thickness of material, so I'm real interested to see how you set it up. When you get the first one built, will you post a few pics of how it's built to handle the loads, especially for winching? I'm still very interested in getting one.

    Thanks,
    David

Also interested in more info on the Aluminum bumper and how it compares to the steel in terms of strength...I know certain Al alloys can come close to steel in strength while being much lighter weight...and that is a serious weight savings.

Eric, did you ever look into the FF1000's fitting without the brackets? my lights are on a light bar for another car not here right now, haven't had a chance to test fit them

Larry... its a stock replacement bumper, but incorporates higher clearance kinda like the AP rear by being smaller than stock and eliminating the low hanging hitch. Overall height is just tall enough to fit the license plate on there.
Pics this week! Just need to get over this damn cold or whatever I have right now.
    Looks great shawn!
Actually I did, but I cant quite remember what the depth was on them. I think I came to the conclusion that the brackets are necessary to fit them on the bumper.
Hey man, your bumper is at Fastenal in Eugene if you hadnt heard already!! :)
