All of a sudden this morning truck is struggling to start. It’s either a looong crank or it starts and shuts down and finally catches.

That's what happened with mine and it was dead the next morning. I got six years out of the OEM battery so no complaints.

You can do a quick test with a DVM to get a pretty good hint, or any parts house should load test it for you for free.

Personally I do my own test, then if I need a battery get an Interstate at Costco for ~$100, cash and carry + your core.

I just had advanced test it and it’s good so maybe there’s another issue might be related to the winch

One weird thing is when they put it on the tester it was double the cranking amps with nothing running so I pulled the connections and it was fine...

if it has double cranking amps hooked up to the terminals but normal when disconnected, sounds like some wiring got crossed or something. but i have no idea lol

Ok went to Vato Zone this time now everything is fine she starts up fine alternator is fine battery is fine. I pulled the positive cable from the winch because that’s all I could think of so maybe it’s a grounding issue but of course I could sit here and we could all guess all day :) but I’ll go home later and do some tracing and figure it out I reckon thanks for everyone’s help

:rofl:We can keep going, I think it’s related to my winch to be honest, I have lights and a winch and I should probably upgrade to a beefier battery or two batteries. Or maybe just keep the winch disconnected and only connect it when using it. I actually think I remember seeing some winch disconnect thing on TW at some point...

You have 8 years on your current battery? Damn I'd replace that for peace of mind if nothing else.
