Based on the photo, the storage boxes are held down with existing bolts for D-rings and accessory rails in the bed, so they should be removable. Haven't seen a Trail Edition in the wild yet, and the 2021 owner's manual doesn't mention it.

From what I've seen on YouTube they say it is removable, I could be wrong as the people who are showing the trucks do not remove them... Figures

But I would think they are in one way or another

Curious if it'll play nicely with the Toyota bed extender

They do take a lot of valuable space, which is already such a premium with Tacos. I think they could work okay if they were easily removable.

From the looks of the contours on them I think the bed extender does infact fit with these installed.

That would be quite clever - enough bed space to fit a dirt bike with the storage boxes installed.

I saw a video somewhere that it could be easily removed just couple bolts securing it.
They didn't actually remove it but the guy who was showing the Trail edition features said that.

It doesn't look like much of a cooler.

It is a completely useless feature for me, so I would avoid the model in which they come with :notsure:

Looks terrible. Freshman-level rule of physics: the further you deviate from sphere towards oblong (or cube towards rectangular) the faster it will exchange heat. That bastard will probably hold ice for the better part of an afternoon.

Except if it were 25 degrees outside, the items in the cooler will get colder faster... that's what the engineers were thinking.

How well can it hold soup? Could I pour a couple of kettles of clam chowder in there? Whats the drain plug situation like? I want a hot soup dispenser mod on this bad boy.

It could be okay depending on the insulation and the depth. I just think it's a missed opportunity to not work it into the cavity between the bed and the sheet metal like the Rambox or whatever it is called, but that would cost a lot more to design and fabricate than these modular plastic bins that basically bolt on.

Things were junk. Always leaked, and took up way too much space. Easy to remove.
