There is nothing practical that’s going to prevent lifting a aux light. The best course of action is either replace with another cheap bar that won’t be missed too much if stolen; or just rig it up so you can remove it when it’s not needed. Just run a harness plug at the roof area, so you can disconnect there and then 2 bolts and off. Can keep it inside the truck under the seats so it’s out of sight.

OP...I wonder if a very apparent video camera (real or fake) was positioned close to your truck would be best deterrant? Especially if they are scouting truck parts specifically, I presume they would notice new cameras close by

I'm guessing that since they don't steal stereos anymore, they have to look for other things to poach.

yeah in the works on trying to find a good motion light and a camera for the time being, i know most are expensive, any camera reviews out there, decent and not gonna break the bank.

Why? There's zero accountability even if you have video evidence. The police aren't going to look for your lightbar thief, they won't even make it easy to send them the video. Thieves know this too, it's no longer the deterrent it once was, we don't live in a world where every police department has a cyber department comparing faces against some FBI database haha

Agreed....I was suggesting more as a deterrant than as an evidence capture mechanism.

i would guess the video would be more helpful to get an insurance claim rather than have the police find anything. my insurance requires me to file a police report for stolen things before i can file the claim.

I don't know, depends on the dollar value of the light bar. Depending on jurisdiction, a $1200 light bar is considered a felony, which draws far more attention than a petty theft.
