Please let us know how the 275 fits in the stock spare tire location when you get it. Haven’t gotten a definitive answer on that yet. Thanks!

 

It will. I had a 285/70r17 stuffed in there, you just have to bend the brackets back slightly and be mindful of the exhaust.

 

Install is Monday. Most definitely will do that

 

I went with 285’s no rub with my lift set up. Just can’t have the front mud flaps on. Didn’t have to trim and didn’t have to do a cmc

 

I have that set up with Bilstein 650lb coils and an Icon 1.5 AAL. Didn’t go with the Falken, went with KO2’s. No problems. I like those Falken’s though.

 

Nice wheels @Jax. I'm running 275s as well even with a lift - nice to avoid the CMC.

 

Thanks, this is very helpful. It seems like opinions are split but most people seem to lean toward what you are saying. Pretty sure I'm going KO2s this round.

What are you guys running for air pressures in a 275/70/17 BFG KO2 AT. Discount tire had them at 40 psi cold. Got home and they were running at 43 to 44 psi. Lowered it to 40 psi at run temperature. now its at 37-38 in the morning. Thoughts?

 

Same here. Usually around 38ish, gets up to about 42-44psi when they heat up, 20-25psi when Offroad. Pretty smooth riding on relatively new asphalt. Only time it’s really bouncy is one part of the 5 freeway near Disneyland, damn near bounces me out of the seat...

 

Plenty of room for the spare with this size tire!

 

So what are some honest opinions about loss of power and need for regear in this size? A lot of new entries here and just wondering what you all think?

 

realistically, my truck has now become a 5 speed automatic. I don’t think I see unless I’m going down a big hill. It’s there a power loss? Yes, but its not end of the world bad. On stock gears, it drives like a truck with bigger heavier tires. If you’re someone who absolutely needs the truck to feel like it did from the factory, then do not go with this size, especially in E load.

 

I just got 4.88's installed and have been running 275/70's on KMC XD133's for 2 years (bought it that way). I recently changed from e-rated KO2's to Firestone Destination X/T's. No real difference in the tire change other than the truck feels like it handles freeway speeds better and what feels like a significant increase in traction.

It's all personal preference. I spent the last 2 years trying to convince myself I was OK without getting gears. I got OVTune and was running 1.05 for a while and it helped, then applied 2.0 and it helped more, but it couldn't overcome the additional mass of the wheels/tire combo on speeds over 65. It doesn't help that from what I've seen, the KMC's are about 5lb heavier per wheel than anything else in the same size. Anyway, I have family acreage/hunting land about 180 miles from where I live and the highway time was just frustrating beyond words to me. Constant 4th, up to 5th, then to 6th briefly, back to 5th, sometimes 6th down to 4th... Maddening. Just took a trip with a strong headwind (with 4.88's and a custom vF OVTune of my own making) and it was the same experience, but it may have been that I was using adaptive cruise. It was disheartening to say the least. But I haven't been using cruise since we got to our destination and have been driving 55-60mph and am averaging 19.5mpg over 188 miles of hilly terrain. I've never gotten that kind of mileage before and the truck's power delivery and shifting are super-smooth and grin inducing. I'm looking forward to driving it home on the freeway: 1) hopefully without a 30mph+ headwind like before and 2) without using cruise to see if the trip here was an exception and not the rule.

TL;DR: Get the gears and the tune. That's my opinion. YMMV.

How much did you lifted the front? Did you had to trim? Is that wheel 17x9?

 

I bought the truck used with the lift already installed, but I believe it's 2" front, 1.5 rear. Nothing trimmed. The wheel is the SCS SR8 17x8.5 -10mm offset.

 

Got my 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks installed today! Definitely noticeably larger than the 265/70/17 Wildpeaks I was previously running (at least in person). Perfect size in my opinion, don’t think I would want to go any larger. As I drive it more will share my thoughts.
