I have an are dcu camper got it used and pretty good shape. Was wondering about getting a roof rack like a front runner slimline rack for my dcu And trying to get ideas but doesn’t seem like there are many if any at all. I’ve seen someone had theirs reinforced support but i believe that was when they ordered their cap. Mine is used and got it for $800 can’t beat that. Don’t plan on putting a tent up there but who knows that may change in the future. Right now it’s a work truck And don’t carry much on the ladder rack except the occasional 20’ ladder or 2x4s but want a different look, As far as my research goes some has said it may not support a lot weight.

Looks good man. I think it's good for some weight but how much? It looks like the strength is out on the sides, which I agree with, and there are some connections to the cross members above. What ever you do I would try to distribute the weight over the entire roof system and avoid any isolated part of it. I just finished mine, and I'm 175. I'd have no problem throwing a 250/300 half cow up there for a BBQ down on the farm....lol

Looks good, yeah the way the frame inside looks like the current ladder rack is supported front and back and some on the side. They’re held on by several self tapping screws, probably won’t be throwing a cow up there but be nice to be able to do that and not worry about the cap caving in on itself

Upgrade the 6 bolts to grade 8 and use some 1/8" plate on both sides of the topper to help distribute the weight. Maybe add another bolt instead of just one on each leg.
