That ignore button made this thread a whole lot more tolerable.

I see used rear quarter panels fairly often on eBay going from 250-600ish. May be a bit more rare to see a longbed version but they're definitely out there if you look. Fenders you can find everywhere, aftermarket ones are quite cheap. If you where adventurous enough you could probably find a door for a decent price as well. Not sure how much a shop would charge for repairing that damage to the lower rear part of the cab though. Ideally you could find a 2nd gen LB at a junkyard somewhere, but they aren't that common to see in a junkyard at least around here.

Your brother sounds like a really chill dude. Not trying to make you feel bad but I would've definitely lost my shit for at least 10-15 minutes if a sibling did that to my vehicle hahaha... but shit happens!

You sure insurance isn't an option??? Even if its a high deductible it would probably be worth having a shop repair it IMHO. I doubt it would be totalled with that amount of damage. I recently had someone hit me and the shop replaced the front & rear quarter panel, bumper cover, hood, grill, headlight, tailight, one of the boxes in the bed and even had to replace one of the engine bay aprons and the total damage was around 8 grand. Either way, good luck in your search.

It’ll buff out... How did you hit a pole like that? Drifting?

thanks @azzwethinkweiz for the well written insightful response. Appreciated at this point. Insurance hit's the owner first, then the driver second so that's a loose loose. I don't want my mistake to affect his insurance. Might even get totaled since the cab damage.

Also not previously mentioned this is a workhorse not a show truck. Higher miles, plenty of scratches all over, imperfect paint, yellow headlights etc. Yes, bro is a chill dude! Shit happens, better to not waste time to find a solution. Thanks for the tip on eBay.

    I've found these also:
    1. https://parts.venicetoyota.com/a/To...2/PICK-UP-BOX-FRONT--SIDE-PANELS/8512710.html
    2. https://www.car-part.com/

Honestly I think better option is to buy him a newer (used) 4dr LB and sell this one as is. Don't think there's ROI throwing $1-2k into this rig.

This is actually a really cool idea especially if it is a workhorse! Probably not too cheap though.

I can’t tell if it’s just the angle of the picture, but it looks like the rear wheel might be bent as well.

If I did this to a family members or good friends truck and wanted to avoid going through insurance, I would take it to a body shop to have it fixed. Its too difficult to find a used colormatched bed thats in good condition or the color even matching to the original 2006 paint. Glad you own up your screw-up but fix it right whether through insurance or not.

I met a girl named Loose Loose once. Thank god for that 2x4 I had in the bed of the Taco to strap to my ass. Took a couple of weeks but that antibiotic eventually cleared the rash.

Good luck on the truck repair.

Your bro could use some tires with a little rubber on them. Just sayin. Good luck with the search, accidents happen.

I don’t understand why using insurance isn’t an option. Isn’t this exactly what we all pay car insurance for? This looks like an expensive fix...... Is there more to the story?

The easiest and most expensive way would order the bedside through a dealer or online here.
    https://oemparts.stonemttoyota.com/p/Toyota_2006_Tacoma/Truck-Bed-Panel/48850304/6550004902.html

Then, take it to a body shop and have it painted. I assume you'll be comfortable pulling the bed off yourself and installing it.

A cheaper option would be, like mentioned previously, buy a bedside off of a member here or find one at a salvage yard through Car-part.com. (Not always even that much cheaper)

I work at a body shop and just replaced one of these on an 06 and all things considered they're not bad to put on.
