Tacoma newb here...just picked up a 2019 TRD Sport and love it so far. No mods installed yet, but I have things on order ;)

So in the engine compartment I noticed a small module mounted and wired to the battery. It has 3 lights, 2 white and a green and a small switch on the side. I have no clue what it is. I did some Google searches but didn't really find anything.

I realize this probably isn't a Tacoma-specific question but since I now have a Tacoma here I am!!

    Thoughts anyone?

Newer vehicles have a wire wrap that is soy based, rodents like to chew on it, destroying wiring in the process.

I live in Rhode Island, but the truck came from somewhere in NY. The dealer bought it at auction. Maybe it was upstate on a farm lol :)

I live in a nice area, in a clean house and yard and recently found evidence of a mouse or rat under the hood of a vehicle I park outside. I hired a pest control company to place and maintain three bait traps around my yard (they take the bait then die in my neighbors yard). Costs $40 a month. I check the traps weekly and noticed during the first month something was eating a lot of the bait then they stopped so I’m guessing I don’t have a rat problem anymore

Yeah those are usually installed after a rodent has chewed on your wiring

Toss it OP. They don't work even if you did have a rodent problem.

Not just throwing that out there, either.
Lots of personal experience out here in the woods with rodents and all manner of bait, traps, poisons, repellents and deterrents.

    Traded it in.
I'd love to know if that actually works. I know the plug in ones I bought for my garage don't work at all.
