My saw uses a 116" blade. I order them from a couple of places. The cheapest I can find is around $37 for the 1/8".

So true. Just got the beam saw blade and some new Mafell portable bandsaw blades back from the sharpener. It feels like cutting butter now.
    Contractor sharp, cabinetmaker dull.

So a friend stopped by today to drop something off and he mentioned he might want a drill press and band saw. I bought mine about 25 years ago and they are the contractor grade Deltas. So he would buy mine if I wanted to upgrade.
I'd love a deeper cut and more poser. Who make the higher quality bandsaws these days?

The more I use mine, the more I wish I had bought the Laguna, or powermatic.

First table had solder filler poured into the miter slot exposing holes in the casting. One guide bearing slider came crossthreaded from the factory. Just a hard pass for me on anything they make.

I used them a lot with my craftsman saw. 99 3/4” was hard to find. Olsen made them and I would order them from Schweiger woodworks. I haven’t seen an Olsen in the 116” size. If I find one I’ll definitely buy them.

Didn't want to create a new thread for this question: Have a miter saw (a HF one) that is only a few weeks old. While working on a project this weekend I noticed it was mkaing a horrible screeching/high pitch noise when slowing and blade was taking forever to stop. I tried cleaning the little brake things on the end of the motor housing in hopes that might fix it but am out of ideas.

I changed the blade to the rough cut blade and it seems to have got alot better. Do you think it could be a dirty blade causing this?

not at the moment. At work. but they are little magnets that go into the rear of the housing. Further digging shows them listed as “brushes”. Here is a photo of a diff model but same concept. They were dirty as hell and thought it would fix it but after changing the blade with the other new one, it got semi-better. Both were brand new but the trouble blade had a lot of cuts on it over the weekend.

Finally have something to participate with. My first piece.

It is a small corner desk to do my college work at that will fit snugly in our bedroom. I've been camped out at the dining table and it is annoying having to clear my computer off every night at dinner so that we can eat as a family.

Legs are the Lowes special but the rest is all me hahah.

I forgot to update after meeting with my cabinet builder friend. He is seriously looking at the A3-41 with table extensions, but is also looking at a Felder jointer and separate Felder planer.

I just talked with another friend today that makes guitars and furniture. He has the A3-41 and loves it, zero complaints.

One friend wants me to buy his used grizzly 12” jointer for $3,200, the other thinks I should hold out for an A3-41.

I might buy the 8” grizzly new and upgrade in a couple years if the economy doesn’t crash.
